Next season is his final year. With Swayman, Shesterkin, Ullmark all signing, what does Skinner get in the open market? Can he get $5M/per like Adin Hill got?

Skinner is a fine 1B, as long as he's paid as such. If he commands anything more than $4.5m, and even that is being generous, I'm telling him to get f***ed if I'm the Oilers.

In a perfect world you can run a tandem of 2 1B quality goalies if they come in at a combined $6(ish)m AAV, as that gives you a cap advantage to spend elsewhere. Or you can be like the Oilers currently are, and only being able to afford a single 1B goalie, because you blew $9.5m on Nurse.

Regardless, if you're going to pay in the ballpark of $5m for a 1B like Skinner, you might as well pay the extra couple million or spend some trade assets getting a true #1. Because $5m for a 1B is a horrible way to spend cap space
