Coleman should have known better there, but at the end of the day, 1 point on the road missing your 3 best veteran forwards.
You simply can't get down on a game like that. Effort was there and we could have easily gotten a bounce to go the other way for us.
Come home tomorrow and take it against Dallas and be happy with 3 out of 4 on a back to back.
Blocked shot pretty much guarantees a 2 on 1 the other way.Why the **** wouldnt they just take a shot from the point
That was Coleman losing his man. He had no business going there.
Love the kid but he goofed.
The reason that play was even in our zone was from Vatanen turning it over.
3 on 3 hockey is not an indicator of who played well. You do not ignore the great game all night one shift of 3 on 3 hockey.till it really mattered. close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades
Zacha has to tie up his guys stick there.
If he takes away the stick, that play is dead.
That's on Zacha more than Vatanen.
Eh, Zacha played it relatively okay. Vatanen on the otherhand apparently doesn't comprehend basic hockey fundamentals, because he should hold the middle since he is deep there and let the forward coming late go help. That was pathetic from an NHLer. No excuse. And he made the weak turnover in the ozone to give it away in the first place.
Well everyone else is singling him out so I figure why not join the party?
****ty OT aside I'm happy with the way they played, just no puck luck tonight. Lots of good chances, a few posts, easily could have had a couple more.
So if everybody else jumped off a bridge...
After 30 games, mostly wins, mostly competitive...Who are you afraid of?
- WAS? Nah
- Islanders? When they are on
- JETS? When they are on
- Rangers? Maybe with Mika
- Blue Jackets? Nah
- VGK? Maybe...that may be their doppleganger
True but man that was just godawful by Vatanen there.
Hey, I love to give Zacha grief. But that's isn't on him. He actually made a nice place to prevent the guy from going around him all together and he was coming with speed after Vats' turnover. Why not?
That's basic board play. Take the opponents stick out of the way and he's useless.
If Zacha ties up Hudon's stick, that puck goes up the ice quickly.
Vatanen expected that Hudon wasn't going to make the play though. Zacha took Hudon partially out of the play, but he didnt take away the stick.
You watch any guy who is strong along the boards and half of board play is preventing your opponents options, more than what you do.
Not saying everyone is absolved, but Zachas gotta be better there too.
