Stralman was very inconsistent and irresponsible as a Maple Leaf. I imagine that's the fanbase that killed you.
He showed a bit more offense with CBJ, but the same story.
He's a 100% different player in NY. Most people remember him as the really streaky player he was back then.
Also, I think a big turnoff with Stralman, for people who don't see him every night, is that he appears not to care due to his relaxed demeanor. That's really not the case, he's just a calm player.
It's actually an awesome trait. Eli Manning and Mariano Rivera are the same way. These are a couple of world champions, MVP's, and future hall of famers. It certainly wasn't a problem for them and it isn't for Stralman.
I actually find his level-headedness very admirable, even as I stand and shriek at my tv and throw things.
