Injury Report: Stolarz Stretchered Out Of SBA During Game 1

I'd love to see one of the bottom 6 guys run through the crease and drill Bob in the head the same way, simply to underline the double standard at play here. I don't want him hurt, but just to force Bettman and his stooges to come out and explain why it's okay when Bennett does it, but bad when a Leaf does it...

Also, I love how NHL.com just casually drops this in an article about Joseph Woll having to come in:

LOL, how hilarious, just the Florida Panthers trying to take out goalies...

I'd like Bob to continue to let in 5 goals a game and be completely unharmed.

Not saying I know any better than the rest.

Alternative theory here.

1) Masks are designed to take a puck and not give a concussion to the wearer.
2) Woll was missing practices in the Sens series because of flu symptoms. It is possible that Stolie caught it. I had a strain just a couple of days ago that hit me suddenly, I felt like poop, puked once, a couple of hours was 75% next day was fine. ---- Hopefully it's that and not the other...
Considering that he started puking after taking an elbow to the head... I highly doubt it's the flu

Had to know there’d be nothing the mask knock off and Bennett being a supremely sneaky weasel guaranteed it. Have to put it away and come out and play hockey. The panther D is not great and if Bob stays shaky they are very vulnerable. Don’t see a way fisticuffs can help. Don’t have the personnel for it. Anything seen as retaliation will be punished harshly by Parros and crew.
Lay the body on the forecheck crowd the crease when possible. Kill them on the power play.

This is going to end with someone having their career ended. I am not sure how else it does. Sam Bennett has delivered so many concussions and keeps getting away with it. Eventually he is going to cross the line so far we see a Lindros type injury.

And if it doesn't come to that, someone is going to do that to him / his teammate because they feel they have to police themselves.

The NHL could have suspended him and calmed everything down. Instead, they have said headshots and flying knees are 100% fine. How else do they think it is going to end?

Best sport, worst league. f*** this shit

The accidentally on purpose injuries are such garbage. I was nostradomus yesterday i had two takes:
1. I hope Bennett is slightly less egregious in his injury attempts
2. I have a gut feeling Woll will start playing games

Pinto getting 42 games suspension for gambling which is ramped down everyone's throat but concussing players every series is not even a fine is a complete joke.

A sucker punch may be the only form of retribution. The Leafs don't have anyone to square up with Bennett.

My feelings are raw on this one but right now I think Bennett doesn’t really deserve the dignity of a man to man fight and then it’s all over, water under the bridge.

He needs to be hit repeatedly as a team effort on clean, within the rules and if he comes for you well then get your stick way up. Business as usual, with a little extra.

If he and other teammates end up with a cracked this or a torn that, or end up having to rehab over the summer. They’ll know why.

Benoit can give it a go. But a cheapshot is probably warranted at this point. Doesn't have to be Bennett to get the point across.
They need Benoit in the lineup though, not sure who would be a good sacrifice, probably Domi.

As much as it pains me to say it, in a vacuum, I can see why Bennett will not be suspended for this play. There's just not enough there to constitute clear intent to injure IMO. That is if you remove all name bars and numbers from the jerseys. When you consider the clear pattern Bennett has formed over the years, it muddies the waters for sure.

That said, who f***ing cares. Go out and police the game yourself. Be disciplined if possible, but make sure he understands what is acceptable and what isn't going forward. If we have to kill off a penalty to settle the score, thats fine with me. Just make sure you make it count if you go to the bin, and absolutely make sure its not a major.

Bennett unfortunately has us exactly where he wants us. Distracted, and potentially undisciplined if we chase him around all game. I suspect the same leash that Stoly got on Greig will be afforded to us early on, but there will be a limit to how much the officials will be able to let slide before they start to lose the game. Like I said, make sure we make good on our licks, and if we have to kill even 1 penalty as a result, consider it an open and shut file. Can't be losing focus.

Stoly my guy, I hope you have a speedy recovery. You've been a rock all year. Get well, the boys will battle for you! This will not be the end of your season
There's nothing "muddy" about it, everyone on the ice knows exactly what he did and what his intentions were.

There's no policing dirty players with clean plays. That is where the league needs to do their job (they won't) or a player retaliates and goes over the line.

The idea they are supposed to "play through" attempts to injury is absurd. The players know they will be targeted, they have to protect themselves, and that means they need to be extra aware of whos on the ice and where they are at all times.

It doesnt need to be one specific player. It can be many. Our entire D core with exception of Reilly can punish people. Domi, Patches, Knies, Lorenz, Laughton are all physical players. Insert Reeves to keep them honest. When ever Bennett is on the ice let him play against him. Make him feel the pain every shift. Make sure to punish any red white jersey you see at all times. In scrums along the boards punish them. In front of the net punish them. On the forecheck, punish them. Keep hitting.

Eventually someone will drop the gloves.

Bieksa routinely talks about equal retribution and justice under 'the code'.

I fully agree on this - Bennett isn't worthy of it. It doesn't need to be clean and even and equal.
