Tomorrow, If we win in Carolina no matter how ( in regulation, overtime, shootout) and the lightning loses to buffalo at home, we clinch a division title for only the third time since 2000.

In 1999-2000 the leafs won the northeast division ( buffalo, Ottawa, Boston, Montreal) with 45 wins and 100 points in 82 games played. They finished 3rd in the Eastern Conference. They eliminated the Senators in round 1 but lost to the eventual champions Devils in round 2.

In the bubble Covid season of 2021, tge leafs won the all-Canadian north division with 77 points in 56 games played. They lost in round 1 to the Canadiens who went all the way to the cup final but lost in 5 games to defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning
Careful, you might get called out for using the "we" word.

Gotta admit, it was nice to see Marner do something besides falling on his ass all night.
We might lose him and he's just about at a 100 point season.

They don't grow off trees. You don't have to love the contract but he's a great player.

I don't love he makeup of their roster... it's not prefect but in the off-season regardless of what happens... if they don't sign him... they better get 2 very good players

So Leafs are guaranteed home ice in the first round. Florida can't pass the Leafs as Leafs have the tiebreakers even if Panthers win out (if Panthers finish with 102 points).

So to win the division against the Lightning:

If Leafs go 1-2-0 and Bolts go 3-0-0, Leafs and Bolts would finish with 104 points. Bolts would win on tiebreakers unless they win 2 of their 3 in OT/SO. Bolts also play Panthers in one of our their final 3 games.

If Leafs go 1-1-1, Leafs clinch division (105 points) as Tampa can't catch them.

Regarding playoff opponents, we're now down to 2 teams we can face in the first round. It will either be Florida or Ottawa. There's no way we can play Tampa in the first round. For the Wild Cards, Montreal cannot pass Ottawa on tiebreakers now, but Ottawa could pass Florida if they win out in regulation (and Florida loses out in regulation in their last two games).

From what I can see, we could play both Ottawa or Florida either as (1 vs. WC1) or (2 vs. 3).

Leafs played a patient game, had some annoying whiffs handling the puck. Habs goalie was pretty good.

Wish Marner would shoot more. He’s better this year, but he’s got an accurate shot. Hope Rielly isn’t hurt too bad, he was playing better lately.

Who’s playing well on D on the Marlies? Emergency call up for sure.

Must suck having to drive to the Airport tonight and play at 5 pm tomorrow.

actually interesting CBC points out marner came on for carlo, there was 3 forwards on the ice

so maybe someone had a feelin he'd do something

I think there was some situational awareness on the bench that the Leafs had numbers going up ice with Nylander rushing so they called for Marner to get on and go for the win

It was a nice call

By people like me who despise fans thinking they are part of the team. You're not. Accept your insignificance.

Not only are they “fans” and not real fans, they’re “people” and not really people. We need new laws to deal with “people” like that.

Well that was frustrating. Wish it had been in regulation and made the Habs sweat more.

Strange game, given the low amount of shots against, but with Habs having long stretches of possession.

One more step towards the Battle of Ontario returning.
