Outshot 35 to 15 by a team that's not a great corsi team and was without two top six defensemen? lol.

But somehow they own FLA. If this team can do so well against FLA, there's no reason TOR can't find a way to be better against the Cats.

Now that we won I can say this was an entertaining game. That goalie for Montreal stood on his head. Our big boys were invisible though and our depth couldn’t do anything either. Not a great sign.

5 D, missing, 2 of our top Dmen. Outplayed them by a fair margin. They do collapse around their goalie well didn't like our powerplay much. But shows again how huge solid goaltending is. We outshot them by a large margin but they had some chances and Stolie is so solid. Nice win boys take the 2 and go to carolina with some snot in our nose and get 2 more.

I said before the game that the Leafs would either win a tight one or get shellacked if they were too cute and allowed Montreal to attack their 5 D with odd men rushes. Thankfully they played it as well as they could on the defensive end.

A 1-0 victory is as tight as it gets. Quite happy to get 2 points down a D Man.

Same formula tomorrow and for much of the playoffs (hopefully fully healthy).

Low event hockey and commitment by everyone to play defense. They just require more drive and finish. JT had the most aggressive drive of the night. The team needs more than that in a game.

Apparently they are able to call up a min. salary AHLer for tomorrow if I read correctly as it is considered an emergency situation. I'd be quite happy with another 0-0 OT game

Marner didn't look that good in regulation. He seemed to have difficulty with the puck at times and made some turnovers.

But he did score the only goal of the game.

Great win, but FFS give that Montreal Goalie Dobeš a star at least.

Guy's a low-round draft pick, 23 years old, with 15 career games under his belt and he blanks the Leafs on 34 shots in regulation on HNIC. Stars should have been Stolarz, Dobes, Marner.

Tomorrow, If we win in Carolina no matter how ( in regulation, overtime, shootout) and the lightning loses to buffalo at home, we clinch a division title for only the third time in our long and storied history .

In 1999-2000, the Maple Leafs won the northeast division ( buffalo, Ottawa, Boston, Montreal) with 45 wins and 100 points in 82 games played. They finished 3rd in the Eastern Conference. They eliminated the Ottawa Senators in round 1 but lost to the eventual champions that season, the New Jersey Devils in round 2.

In the bubble Covid season of 2021, the Toronto Maple Leafs won the all-Canadian north division with 35 wins and 77 points in 56 games played. They lost in round 1 to the Montreal Canadiens who went all the way to the cup final but lost in 5 games to the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning who repeated again as champions that year.

I feel we’re very lucky to get out of this with two points. We fumbled the puck all night and weren’t sharp at all. Thank goodness we have Stolarz and Tanev, always calm and reassuring. You can tell which team wanted it more and it wasn’t us. I hope our PP doesn’t let us down again in the playoffs.
