That makes a little more sense. I don't really see the point of Dumo being included in the trade either way, though. He's a UFA. Essentially you're just trading Pettersson for Krug. Why?

Because I’ve always liked Krug. And we need him on the PP. I think he’s had a couple of odd years and can bounce back with Letang.

I threw in Dumo because title says Legit LD and I don’t think Pettersson is actually legit. But could be. Thus the rights to Dumo who we could sign still.

OP is underselling him by calling him a 3rd pairing dman. He's more of a 2nd pairing guy, especially when you consider many teams are playing borderline AHL'ers on their 3rd pair. The Blues definitely used him as a 2nd pairing guy.

Obviously a team like Colorado has no use for him....but there are some teams that might. He's not just a cap dump. Remember when people were saying Tarasenko was a "cap dump" and then he went had a career year in points?
