At 23. Needs a breakout year. Looks like a bust. Sad he was what they only got back for BarbashevReally has shown nothing as a pro at this point to think he has future in NHL
His 9 game look with Blues years ago could very likely be his only NHL career
Rooting for him after a long time away in the assistance program. I didn't hear about his performance after he came back in January, but it's going to be interesting to see if his issues were hampering him and he shows additional growth after a full off-season.
Plus, I understand pretty much all the kids looked a lot better when Ott took over coaching duties in Springfield. Nobody thought Lindstein was ready and he was immediately a breath of fresh air in the NHL after Ott got to work with him.
No idea if Dean has or will benefit in the same way, and I'm not holding my breath, but the ability is there. He really did look NHL-viable a few years ago when he and Bolduc were called up late in the year. And the Blues' checking line desperately needs new life.
He’s a fine AHL player too. Even if he never makes the NHL full time he can still have some value to the org (albeit a lot less than everyone was hoping when he was acquired).Yeah. Hasn't really shown much NHL level promise lately, but have to think that there's at least a chance that he could get back on track now that he's hopefully cleared some personal obstacles off the ice. Maybe there's nothing there, but it'd be silly to completely write him off just yet, given the circumstances. Especially at a minimumal, completely buriable one-year two-way commitment.
