No retention?

TBH, didn't think we'd be able to get a 3rd for Leddy at 50% retained, let alone recoup the 2nd we payed for him, plus.

Is Walman a lefty? He could be our best LD next year, without even doing any research on him.

Leddy sucks. Not sure what Army was thinking on this one. Maybe he'll look better on a better team surrounded by some quality vets but would not have been my target.

I think Leddy will be better for St. Louis honestly. Much better team with much better linemates, and he won't need to play 21 minutes a night more than likely. He still skates well, and with better people to pass to, he won't be as useless as he was here.
There's definitely that chance.

Get his minutes down playing on a team that's playoff bound, maybe he'll step up his game a bit. A lot of nights with the Wings he looked like he didn't give a crap.

I think Leddy will be the Del Zotto of this years Blues. Even if the Blues win the cup he'll be a healthy scratch unless theres an injured D. Army likes having a veteran on standby.

Sundqvist will be SOLID for the Red Wings. Three cups and puts down a solid foundation. I think Detroit won this by many miles.

Absolutely f***ing livid as a Blues fan right now. Army flinched and went dumpster diving and still overpaid.

Not a fan of giving up a second for Leddy, hope he proves me wrong.

Not a fan of giving up on Sundqvist either. The guy just needs to get healthy but he is a super effective player when he is.

Would love to be wrong, but my initial reaction to this move is pretty negative.

I know Armstrong was desperate for any cap relief, but trading Sunny like this just seems wrong. Not a fan of this trade at all.

Not a good trade

Lefty is -33 on the +/-

I have no clue what DA is doing here other than going through the motions.

This team is fading.

He won’t be in a smaller role though. He will probably be paired with Parayko.

Terrible trade by the Blues.

That's the first thought that went through my head !

Whatever happened to the saying..... not making a trade for, the sake of making a trade ??? 🤬🙄😔

Giving up Sundqvist for him is an overpayment.

Can't see a cap dump when one slapping you in the face.

They won't. Sunny has been terrible this year and is still so injured he has to sit regularly for a few games to rest up. Our defense is also terrible. There is literally nothing Leddy can do to make it worse.
Methinks you have not seen mr. Leddy play this season

The blues have a +44 goal differential
The wings is -54
There is lots of room to make it worse lol

Best case Leddy finds his game again. If he continues playing how he has this season in Detroit, he will continue to be one of the worst dmen in the league. He has been atrocious this year on a team that already has a terrible defense.

I'm actually more intruigued about Walman as a wings fan. A second rounder is great return for Leddy, but Detroit has no one down the left side on D and hes going to get an opportunity to play a lot. He hasnt gotten a chance to actually play some minutes in his career yet, so maybe beside a guy like Seider he'll find some of his game and become something useful.

Whats the scouting report on him Blues fans?

Walman has elite skating and a good shot when he can get it off. More tools than toolbox kind of player. Always leaves you wanting more

In reading some of the comments from Wings fans, spot on re: Leddy. He’s nonchalant in his own zone, lacks intensity, prone to being outmuscled for pucks, turnover waiting to happen. His mobility is an asset and he’s adequate on the PP point. Was definitely one of the most frustrating Isles to watch.

If he’s sheltered on the 3rd pairing playing soft minutes, he isn’t much of a liability.

You would think that a defenseman that gets shots through to the net while being on a powerplay unit would produce more than 1 goal on 1.9% shooting with less than 1 shot per game. For reference, Leddy has 1 more attempted shot and 4 more shots on goal than Walman has despite playing more than 800 more minutes, which actually includes the powerplay.

Leddy for the Wings looked a bit like Mike Green in terms of his elusive and slick play...in that it comes off as nonchalant, disinterested, and lazy. It could be how they are wired, but any sense of urgency could also serve as an indication that he's actually still breathing and not a dead body as he stands still in the defensive zone.
Walman looks to shoot every time he gets puck in offensive zone. Like I don't think he ever passes in the o zone. Actually has a nice shot but slow release hinders its effectiveness.
