No you misunderstand. Sully knows he's game isn't good right now. He's not blind. But he still wants to keep him around in a limited role to try to fix him.I disagree. When Rust was playing like trash it was the perfect opportunity to bump him up in the top 6.
Hell when the team was playing bad it was a perfect opportunity to move him anywhere to try and get some success
Sullivan did him no favors, sure. But every chance Kapanen got, he squandered. Incredibly low hockey IQ and response time. Absolutely no creativity with the puck and no ability to slow down the play. Spastic. Too dumb to take advantage of his only asset (speed). Maybe he finds another team and can add value again, and I will be happy for him, but it was not happening in Pittsburgh. I have no explanation for why he was given a 2 year extension as an RFA. We believe there is a massive disconnect right now between ownership, the GM and head coach. He was a positive asset on the Leafs. Maybe it has to do with Pens coaching or system?
There's been a massive disconnect with the coach and management since way back when JR got all hopped up on Tom Wilson juice and decided the team needed toughness. We believe there is a massive disconnect right now between ownership, the GM and head coach.
Big spoon or little spoon?Spooner vibes from this guy
Because the Penguins are in a bind and could cough up a pick (or take back $) if you make a trade with them.I honestly don't understand why Chicago or Arizona or Anaheim wouldn't take a shot at him. Even Buffalo.
They get him for free and then he is signed for next season and if he continues at his current pace and is given a bigger role, they could trade him for an asset next season. But GMs are wierd.
It's on him though b/c he did in fact have all the opportunity to play him in other positions and situations this season"When a team doesn't live up to expectations, change is inevitable. That's part of it. Kappy is a really talented player. To a certain extent, it's on all of us because we didn't find a way to maximize his potential."
1 more year at $3mil AAV. Only way I see him getting claimed is by a rebuilding team that expected to have cap space next year.
Man has he fallen

Exactly. There's been a massive disconnect with the coach and management since way back when JR got all hopped up on Tom Wilson juice and decided the team needed toughness.
The one common thread to these problems got an extension a year ahead of when he needed one and will be here forever.
He's really not a bad player...coaching usage completely nuked him.The Isles need to be all over this
We have so many injuries and just dont have much NHL scorers. It just make too much sense for us not to get himHe's really not a bad player...coaching usage completely nuked him.
Not saying he's anything special but the right team he's a decent 3rd liner.
