This team doesnt contend until we draft high and get franchise player(s).

How everything is played out Thomas and Kyrou's prime years will be wasted. Its just shame.

Thomas will be 32-years end of his contract, propably slowing down 🤷🏼‍♂️
Kyrou will be 33-years old.

We could face we need to move them to get somerhing or like Army do with best players.

LET THEM WALK FOR NOTHING.

f***ing bleeding blue.

Cant come sooner this Army Joker Will Be out.
This team doesn't contend until its ready. Simple as that.

Drafting high and having 'franchise' players hasn't helped the Oilers win a Cup. You need a whole lot more than that.

I'm skeptic as f-k but I'm willing to watch and see if the kids show up and are the real deal and I honestly have some faith in that. I'd rather Army do this than sign big dollar player that handcuff us into a different kind of oblivion that's as bad as blowing up a team.

The fact is, as of now, no single signing can take this team to the level of Contender. None. Army is being wise with how he's bringing players in and we have benchmarks cap-wise that will help us go from one series of contracts to another. Army has fk'd up a lot of things, but he's been wise with others. This is absolutely one of them and the backbone to how we won a Cup.

Given the right people, the right signings and the right sense of team resolve, if Army continues the course there's no reason we couldn't end up with another Cup under these conditions.

And you're damn right - I bleed Blue. It's all I know and Army can both piss you off and make you believe at the same time, and I'm happy with that.

Once upon a time long ago in a presser far far away Army first mentioned an actuary table. I no longer remember or care why he brought it up or how he used it to define whatever the issue was or the subject of the presser at the time. BUT I do know PNines was aggravated shittingly about it and mentioned actuary tables in posts criticizing Army for some time after it. Now don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy PNines posts but I’m about 127% certain now that Army continues to occasionally throw out actuary tables in pressers to mess with PNines. And I’m here for it because I think it’s f***** hilar! Its all good natured ribbing to me.
I remember the "Magic Board" interview and I talk about it both to make fun of Army and because, well... it's sorcery and the fact we have a Cup in part because of it shows the Epic Level of Necromancy that Army is capable of and I fugging love it.

I don't like the trade. Fowler is a fine player, the payment is fine, but we don't need to be giving up draft capital and getting batter. We are not a Cam Fowler away from winning. We still need a 2nd line C. Unless we get that too, we aren't winning a playoff round, so why drop further back in the draft, lose a 2nd only to get smoked in the playoffs if we can even get there. Meh, makes no sense to me.

On Army's press conference, he said "a trade like this doesn't push anyone out". I hope Kessel isn't listening to the presser on his flight to Springfield.

Do you think it’s in the team’s best interest to rush the development of defensemen in the system or risk injury to guys currently under contract due to over playing them?

I do. We historically have had a 'habit' of this in general that it negatively changes the players trajectory, so I get the caution.

As in it’s the best interest to get a stop gap even if it means moving future assets?

If the Blues had anyone in the wings ready, I’d be all for letting them play. But realistically there’s no one close who should have the opportunity to play full-time aside from Kessel. And I think him being sent down is more reflective on Perunovich/POJ being warm bodies who can’t go to Springfield more than anything else.

Admittedly, I am also biased and have wanted the Blues to acquire Fowler for over a year (albeit it was to send Krug away).

My point with there being 29 other teams are that there’s still options.

I’d have to do more research on each roster to give an example that I think could be viable for a swap.

Glancing really quickly, I could see Anaheim being a fit due to their cap space. Would need to be centered around someone like Strome if a direct 1 for 1 or Fowler if Blues want to add to Krug and upgrade D.

I’d be fine with Krug + 25th Overall + a prospect(Bolduc) or a future 2024 pick for Fowler.

Does anyone care to factor in the fact that Leddy's timeline is uncertain, Suter is almost 40 years old, and Broberg is playing more minutes than accustomed to? Our top 4 could definitely use a boost on the left side, and Army is responsibly forecasting what our defense will look like in March and early April at this current trajectory.

I think what a lot of us tend to forget is the amount of actual money that comes in when a team is hunting for a playoff spot and then when the team actually can make it (even if its to get bounced in the first round). Many of us what a higher draft pick but the difference in 12 to 18 may not be worth the actual dollars the ownership group would likely get in ticket sales etc.

This seems like a good move for a team 4 points out of a playoff spot and showing some good signs of life with a new coach. It also seems to me this could mean a longer return for Leddy and possibly more info behind the scenes that Krug may not be able to play again. I dunno, all speculation at this time on my part but I like it as a whole. With how we have been drafting the past few years we all have a lot to look forward to so why not try to be competitive now with our current team and coach to build a culture of winning for when these kids to come up to play to hit the ground running and be a very good team for the coming years

This team is going nowhere and this does not help us at all long term. It is a stupid and rather pointless trade in regards to long term improvement.

What a shocker. The same folks who hate every move this team makes hate this one too.. This is a deal that can essentially be erased if it doesn't work out in a recoup and possibly then some if another body or two is sent out on a rail before the TDL if we shyte the bed like some want to happen so fervently that injuries are viewed as a positive to help get us there. I would love to hear the mental gymnastics on how this move on an expiring deal after next season is going to be a long term detriment to the franchise.

It helps long term if prevents Parayko being injured from playing more time than necessary or rushing players who aren’t ready to play.
You could prevent him from playing more time than necessary without giving out a 2nd and taking on cap. There is nothing stopping the coaching staff from doing this already.

Again, this team is not a cup contender and logical fans don't care about being a welfare wildcard team that gets bounced in 4 or 5 games against actual elite teams.

If Fowler was 7-10 years younger, I would be on board. That is not the case here. This is just another patchjob dumpster dive move by Armstrong to once again attempt to fix the Captain Creampuff debacle.

Calling it right now, Fowler starts setting it up for Kyrou.

Either that or he turns into a potato and rolls out of here. Fowler I mean.

Quack.
I've never seen you post anything close to as negative, or on as consistent of a basis as Diz Nasty. Not trying to knock you down or anything lol

PO Joseph = 25 years old
Loof = 22 years old
Johannesson = 23 years olf
Schueneman = 29 years old

Who are we rushing? Play Kessel, Perunovich, Joseph more. Let them sink or swim at their ages. We have other guys we can call up if needed. What good does losing a 2nd to win 5 more regular season games do us? What kids are we protecting?

It makes sense that people who hate every move (which is reductive, nobody hated the offer sheets) would not like this. Its not that they hate everything, but if they fundamentally disagree with Army's direction and vision, they are going to dislike the moves done in furtherance of that vision. No?

Question, does his NTC stay in effect? If the Ducks struggled to trade him because of trade protection, how are we going to fair better? The other teams that he wanted to go to didn't want to outbid us before, why will they let us recoup their 2nd later? Unless we are retaining into next year to make him cheaper, then we have dead cap on the book next year just to get recoup an asset we didn't need to spend.

If the NTC goes away or he is more willing to waive it at the deadline, then we can do something. But he had a 4 team list, and we were one of them. Down to 3 (unless he has to add another team, not sure how NTCs work after trades).

The ones we are playing sank. That is why we made the deal. And we can always flip him as a rental at next trade deadline and recoup much if not all of the pick value we dealt.

Beyond that, people overrate picks. Fowler is signed through next year. If healthy he will play about 130 games for us. Which is likely more NHL games than the Ducks get out of the pick we dealt. And I suspect that will also be more games than the 6 guys you listed play for us going forward (combined).

It's wild how many of us can vehemently disagree with everything the GM does despite the fact that our opinions don't change anything. Can we not simply sit and watch what happens?

Huh? So sharing our thoughts isn’t allowed if we disagree with the GM?

It’s more wild to me how many homers on this board vehemently defend every single move the Blues make. It’s like an appeal to authority - if the team is making this move, it MUST be good. Idk, I feel like thinking for yourselves every once in a while may be beneficial.
