The Stars decided to go historic on the Bruins on Thursday night.
That was indeed as bad as it sounded there, too, with Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins absolutely pummeled for seven goals in a 7-2 final that honestly (and somehow) felt even worse than the box score indicated by the sweet, sweet release of what was a merciful final horn at American Airlines Center.

In fact, after scoring seven goals in their previous outing, the Stars’ seven-spot dropped on the Bruins on Thursday gave the Dallas audience a first, as it marked the first time that the Stars had scored at least seven goals in back-to-back games since the team moved to Dallas in 1993-94.

Stars Goal #1 – Matt Duchene is allowed to skate into an empty space the size of Texas in the right circle. Freddy does chase but lacks the speed to get there before Duchene is able to receive and shoot.

Goal #4 – Pasta misreads a play and completely wrong-foots himself, allowing Oskar Back to get open unopposed in the low slot. Zadorov arguably doesn’t play this very well either, and Back scores.

Goal #5 – Lightning McQueen Evgenii Dadonov simply skates away from Zacha and his pathetic attempt at a stick check, and scores unmarked.

Goal #6 – Roope Hintz casually wanders into the low slot and out-muscles the bigger Carlo and Lohrei. Chip in past Sway.

Goal #7 – Keystone cops. Carlo in no-man's land. At least the game was well and truly gone by this point.

Four entirely preventable goals and one gong show caused by poor coverage, lack of effort and sheer doddle-headed failure to do the basics. Topped off by Sway playing deep and timid in most cases, although he is not the main problem. Unacceptable stuff in college hockey, let alone in the NHL. Bad tactics and lack of personnel are one thing, sheer carelessness and insipidity quite another.

The Bruins are now 3-6-1 or thereabouts against playoff contenders, depending on who exactly you count, and 26-44 on the scoresheet. Not good enough, not even close. The roster is flawed, the coaching is sub-standard, but the performance of the players is worst of all. The season is far from a lost cause because the east is so thoroughly mediocre. But if management have any actual ambitions beyond merely earning a few more one and done playoff dollars, they're not going to get there just by making the usual one or two deadline adds. Bigger and deeper change is needed. Time for Sweeney to start earning his $$$ and make some hard decisions.

The Bruins did little to build momentum after Tuesday's comeback against the Blues, dropping a 7-2 loss to the Stars on Thursday.

This team cannot be fixed with a little tweak here and there it has a way too many obvious issues to try and do a patch up job. DS do not waste any more draft picks or agree to pay half of players salaries to try and make trades.

The time has come to do some real soul searching and accept what we really have. Try to get a plan in place for the upcoming years. This train is about to come off the tracks, if it hasn't already.

Perhaps sound like a parrot but in the offseason said goals will be difficult to score this season with this limited roster.

The optimism for tough, heavy Florida style hockey allowed for that to be overcome and provide an entertaining season even if the Bruins were winning/losing 2-1 nightly.

Sadly the Bruins (Sweeney) missed the mark fantastically and the coach has had not one answer to solve the issues. Soft, ECHL level hockey with little defense of team and little emotion whatsoever.

How is Montgomery still employed?

Yawning rather than confronting the officials last night when it was well justified. No attempt at a time out to level set.

Fire him even if the only option is Sacco which is a dreadful concept unless he has learned from his Colorado days.

Didn't see the game, so I depended on the hilite package..

I thinking of becoming an NHL goalie. Just to make extra money. I'm 62, but what the heck! Apperantly all you do is drop to your knees and spread your arms like a scarecrow.
It's true, because that's all Swayman looked like he was doing with his ass buried deep in his crease. Oh...and don't move. Totally freeze.
All I want is the league minimum but if I get Wolf as an agent I can likely get 3.75 million.

The number of times I’ve forgotten to watch a game, woke up the next day only to see a god awful result is certainly more than zero this year

I was in the building for that, that, I don't know what to call it.

I took my 10 year old daughter, it was her first game. She's a Texas born kid, but she had her Bruins gear on and had a wonderful time. She fell in love with the Bruins. Yeah, I know.
From that standpoint it was a great time I will always treasure. The Stars fans around us and their commentary throughout sealed the Stars fate in her eyes, she hates them.

As bad as it might have looked on TV, it was so much worse in the building. There is no point in running through the list but from Sway to Monty, it's time to shake this mess up. There are no easy solutions but something needs to happen immediately and not just sending JM packing, there needs to be a big trade to make every player uncomfortable. The "rebuild" that the organization has been doing everything possible to avoid is upon us imo.

For the first time in years I turned off the game ant the end of the second period

I have been through losing years before but I can't remember a time when the team seems so dis-interested and dis-organized.

From the tv shots I saw, Monty looked like someone who knows the end of the story and has mentally checked out while he waits. His lack of response after the two egregious calls ( penalty shot and Benn hit) made it clear this team will not have any chance of a turnaround until he is gone.

Hockey is a what have you done for me lately game and right now both on the ice and behind the bench the answer is way too little
