Probably because he played a strong defensive game. Lowry's line was good most of the game. Had a strong 3rd when Nino who was a step behind the play got demoted. The Jets barely survived Nino, Barron and Perfetti's first shift, good thing Lindell shot the puck on net instead of working them. Ehlers line and specifically Ehlers being cute trying to play the puck like a soccer ball led to the GTG. Ehlers also turned over pucks being cute, with the no look shit. But he was ok. I saw him with a great chance to work the odd man rush with Fleury unwilling to give up the puck to the outside looking into the middle. Also saw him make great defensive plays and lead the quick transition, which I thought was the Jets strength this game. I swear some people watch one play and make a decision about a player, just like the dumbasses on these boards who tried to railroad Neal Pionk out of Winnipeg last year, after one particular play to end our playoff hopes.Appleton played more than Ehlers for inexplicable reasons.
I thought Arniel made a good coaching change when he moved the defensive players up, and the offensively/defensively struggling players down. Only thing is it really limited the Jets to having only one line that could score but they got their chances, with Perfetti, with Appleton on line changes.
Fans should get used to Arniel being a defensive minded coach. It's not going to change.
I really don't like the group mentality of picking on one player after a defeat. If you played a team game, you never talk that way.
