Well for a guy his height (remind me, how tall is he? ☠️) 240 is still pretty lean. My main issue is his strength and balance. He should be winning most of his board and net front battles, that should be his 'strength'.

Yup, after his big season things were looking so good for him and the Jets for the next decade.

I still think we're going to have to run 8 D and a 23 man roster. Luckily we have cap space.

I'm pretty impressed with how Chevy has managed to not get into cap trouble yet ice a great product
I'll agree with the strength and balance issue, and I think that's why he's bumped up the strength training. There was some locker room footage the other day where he looked f***ing huge to me, bigger than a couple years ago.

Problem is Stan is a good soft skills player, how big a chance do you give Heinola when he can’t stay healthy? Is he even worth a second at this point?
I'm not sure what's going to happen with Ville, but I do think it behooves the Jets to at least give him a shot and let him play this year. That's why I think we'll probably have 8 d on the roster this year.

I agree. I think Ville moves makes Stan and Fleury 7th and 8th

Tiny Heiny is a Norris candidate around here despite always being injured and looking like a carreer AHL’r in his own end!

His abilities are at mythical status FFS

It's not like stanley is there because he deserves it necessarily, therefore, to think that Heinola's play is going to compensate for Stanley's soft skills is hard for a fan to tell.
Let's see Ville in at least a semi-regular role in the NHL before we annoint him as more useful than Stan

On paper and in my heart, I think he'll be a better player but until he proves it, we won't know for sure

Hopefully he gets an honest stretch of games when he returns to get up to NHL speed so we know for sure what he can bring

But as you point out it’s not all about what happens on the ice.

Yup. Ville has hung around and paid his dues with the org for a while now too. Maybe they are loyal to that and want to give him a chance to succeed too

Also comes down to what the team is looking for in that spot. Maybe it's "toughness".... I'm sure they'd prefer Stanley punching someone's helmet to Lowry doing it

I thought it comes to locker room so if they need a pick moving d, but, Stan is just more charismatic it doesn’t matter.

I'd kindly settle for a tall glass of milk.

It would be very interesting to have an offensive guy on all three pairings. If that were to work, added to what we're already doing, I'm not sure that hockey could be any more enjoyable to watch; including the 2017-18 team this is the most exciting team to watch (way too early though). Pionk by no stretch of the imagination is on par with Morrissey as a player, but both players made a big jump in offensive production in their 8th season. Maybe we're pushing our luck introducing a 3rd guy who in theory does the same thing. If I were playing a video game, I'd definitely be adding Heinola.

It's kind of a nice luxury to have, rack up regular season wins, have Stanley get consistent reps in, insulate him to a degree, buy him enough time to help his confidence grow, and see what you have with him down the stretch. I imagine that a guy of his proportions, not playing a regular schedule (44 sporadic games over the past two seasons), isn't ideal. He's the better payoff (IMO), if he makes a significant jump, and plays more like he did this afternoon. I don't see him as a pump and dump, but who knows.

Given how this team is now moving the puck, how we are getting offensive contributions from more then enough dmen we really don't have a spot for him atm. That might change if we have some injuries or if Pionk doesn't reup. So my guess is they keep him around and get him in when they can.

Don't be a dick

I said that's one  possible factor. Toughness is another. I'm sure you saw the sequence that Stanley had that changed the momentum of the game today
I think what the organization is hoping for is games like today. Stan was very good and if something close to that becomes his new normal he will cement himself into the lineup.

Any of the dmen moveable to a wing?

Powers that be (and the locker room ), probably know more than us lay folk on Stanley’s potential.

But, in the meantime we are winning so why mess with a winning roster. Hopefully, Stan or miller can be that offensive guy.
