That “third” line scares me with Ottawa having last change. They got hemmed in their own zone last game quite a few times. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Marner/Nylander getting double shifted and Robertson’s ice time being pretty low.

Hope we see a decent amount of Leaf fans in their building tonight!

We only got one power play last game, and whistles tend to be put away after the first few games.
Toronto will still get a handful of power play opportunities over the next couple of games, and that will be enough for them to capitalize.

Mostly because the Stu line never starts in their own zone, and Berube was hard matching.

They'll get more these next two games without the last change, I'd think.
What's the 'Stu line' ?

Nothing surprising here, but really shows how score effect shave skewed the whole "whose outplaying who" discourse.

I keep hearing "Ottawa will come out strong" and comments like that, here or from the media. But I just don't think that's even the case. Everyone said they'd bring it at puck drop for game 2, and the Leafs owned that whole period.

I think the Ottawa players know they're doomed. So I'm not expecting some herculean start to the game. Here's how it'll go:

The Leafs will keep them to the outside, and gobble up the low danger shots. Analytics will keep saying that Ottawa is competitive at 5on5, while the eye test sees they don't have the talent to match Toronto.

The Leafs will continue to score from skill and the deadly powerplay. And Once Ottawa starts to panic and trade chances, the score will run up in our favor.

Ullmark won't match Stolarz, so the Leafs will never trail. Just like they've yet to trail at any point in games 1 or 2. Leafs win comfortably by 2 or 3 goals.

That stat seems wrong. They have had more than 3 offensive zone face offs.
I heard Kyper say it this morning driving into work and it did seem kind of small.

Maybe he said with the lead?

I know it doesn't matter to me where he starts them as long as they continue to be strong defensively and run continue to be red hot on the PP.

I think the rivalry is better when the Sens have a healthy fan base. I don’t think it’s as fun if the building is full of Leafs fans. That’s why a series against MTL would have been a lot more exciting. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining at all I just would like to see the Sens fans supporting their team. If they don’t, this is not much of a rivalry. It's fun to laugh it, but it's better if there are more Sens fans.

Matthews 11 o zone. 20 d zone. JT 23 o zone 8 d zone. Both games faceoffs on NHL.com. They trust the 1st line.

I think sens will score first today, maybe get two quick ones, leafs settle down, and win by 2 or more. Sens fans say because they scored first today that it was close , yadda yadda yadda

To be honest, these "rivalries" are more entertaining when the Leafs aren't the better team. The talent gap between the Leafs and Ottawa/Montreal is still too big for any real bad blood to develop.

most of the Leafs games I have attended in my life were the Spezza/Alfie Sens running the Leafs out of the rink in Ottawa. Sens fans loved having so many Leafs fans in the building to rub our noses in it

People saying "Don't change a winning lineup" would usually make sense. Just not in the case where a small scoring winger Robertson is on a checking line and playing very poorly to the point he was benched the entire 2nd half of the game and was a liability out there every shift.

It's a really poor coaching decision to leave him in just to bench him after a mistake.

Pacioretty/Kampf are much better options. I actually like Robertson, he's just not a fit for where he's expected to play

I honestly think it might be due to a bit of dwindling interest too - from all parties, not just the Leafs.
