And that forward height by the Rangers is massively brought down by the two guys on the team who are under 5'10 but are also two of their best offensive players who have succeeded no matter what

It's also evened out by the biggest player on either team.

Funny so many posters talking about the LA fans being cocky, yet every post in this thread says "NYR in 6" or the sarcastic "LA in 3 :sarcasm: "

This is going to be the biggest, toughest challenge yet and I'm fairly positive that if we don't absolutely play our best games, we will lose. We may very well on a night to night basis play well and still lose games.

It's going to be very very difficult.

I don't think anyone is really bothered by the Kings fans (and many neutral fans) calling the series for LA, it's just all the "It's going to be a cakewalk" or "Should be a blowout" **** from some people that rubs the wrong way. Nothing to get bent out of shape about, hopefully our guys can make them look stupid.

That's an honest opinion. Of course I'm nervous about the Kings. But everyone here should begin taking them a little more seriously. I remember going on the Penguins board before the series and everyone said Pens in 4/5. Let's not be that fanbase. Confident but don't discount the opponent. They're a ****ing awesome team, and more frighteningly a ****ing terrible match up for us in terms of playing style and personnel. I think we prevail but it really will be a hell of a lot harder than some of you guys seem to think it will be. I'd prepare for some agonizingly painful and stressful games.

What's there to be nervous about? Until the Rangers win 3 games, it should be a fun ride. If they get those 3 wins, then it gets real.

The big matchup for NY is the forwards vs. the Kings' D. Their D corps is not 100%, and has had some rough times, Muzzin & Greene in particular had issues in the last 4 games. Martinez is a nice D, but not a defensive rock. If the Rangers can spend time in the zone and use their speed, they'll have chances.

agreed nyr2k2, and what would be worse is the people coming in, if it does happen, and saying, see, I was right. I doubt the Kings come in feeling the same way. They're well-coached. They almost lost a series after being up 3-1 and losing throughout much of the deciding game. That took a mental toll, but it also wised them up a bit and they'll come out playing hard game one for sure. Hockey in NYC in June...neat!

Okay, so I am assuming that everyone thinks the chances the Rangers will win all of the first three games are small and I should go ahead and purchase an airline ticket for game 4. Yes?

Some fans here like to get angry at the opposing fan base in every series. Never understood why they would give a ****.

Maybe if Matt Greene was like Shea Weber I'd worry about this, but he's not.

This is 2014, size is less relevant. Also, if you were watching the WCF it was pretty clear the speed guys like Saad & Kane were causing the most trouble for LA, Toews had some good moves to the net as well. I think the Rangers can do a decent job replicating that.

Uh yeah, I do think the Rangers have a shot but I doubt very much that many of us think we're going to win the first three games.

I have no room for realism here.

The Rangers will ****ing win this series. I believe.

The Kings are beatable. Lets go boys.

Sutter played 3 lines late in the game last night. Both teams played 3 lines. LA has played a lot of hockey. LA has better depth at center. Stepan came around in the Habs series. Brassard should be better in this series after having missed nearly 3 full games in the Habs series. He had a chance to heal up in the last few days. Moore is back where he belongs on the fourth line. If the Rangers can get anything out if Richards, it's a bonus. He didn't do much in the Habs series. The Rangers have better depth at center than the Hawks. They don't have Toews but their 4 centers as a group are better than Toews, Shaw, Kruger and Handzus.

There a San Jose fan twitter site I always enjoyed:
@fearthefin

  • Jun 1 - That wasn't Quick's fault though because the puck was bouncing. The puck has never bounced in the history of hockey. #NBCLogic
  • Jun 1 - Quick's SV%, regular season and playoffs, since the lockout: .909. His three backups' combined SV% since the lockout: .930
  • May 30 - Crawford needs to be careful not to knock out Quick and force the Kings to put in their better goalie.
  • May 29 - The most disappointed Habs fans tonight are the ones that have to go back to being Senators fans tomorrow
  • May 29 - I hope the Russian Hockey News writes hit pieces on North American KHLers. "Enigmatic Canadian needs to stop blocking shots."

If you're a realist, you would look at the statistics and see how even we match up with them. I think a lot of people listen to what is said in the media and start to get scared without looking into the facts of how close the two teams actually are.

Yes, LA is 'bigger' than us. But that doesn't mean **** when we score more goals than them, have an extremely strong defense, and the best goalie in the NHL.

Apparently u read my post somehow as "LA in 5"

All I said was we have to play really well and even then it might not be enough to win individual games. I think it's going to be a battle. It's entirely within ur right to disagree with that if u choose, but I stand by it. LA could beat us game to game even if we play well.

I don't see any relevance in reg season at this point so the only stats I'm interested in are PO stats.
I give the edge in goal to us & maybe the pk... but otherwise to LA. That doesn't mean we can't win.

According to a sports memorabilia site, the Kings will wear the same set jerseys until one of the teams wins 3 games, then switch sets (for the superstitious).

With the exception of Doughty's 27+ minutes a game, a couple more than McDonagh, the TOI distribution for each team from the top of the lineup to the bottom is pretty even.

Devils fan here, congratulations to you guys.

I think a lot of people are underestimating the Rangers. I do give Quick some leeway on his numbers given the teams they've played so far. None of them were slouches, and they've been the road team in a lot of them. Wins are the most important things, as you obviously all know. Quick played really well in the olympics too.

I said this in another thread on one of these boards, but the Rangers to win at all, are going to have get production out of Nash and Richards. Real production. Not a 6th goal in a blowout, or a bouncie puck from the sideboards...he (moreso Nash) needs to create, and he needs to produce. The Rangers have yet to play a team like LA, structured, experienced and big. It's going to be a good match up.

LA is big, they can skate, and they can score goals on some very good defenses. They have the top 4 scorers in the playoffs, the Rangers are going to need get more production.

Here's a question worth a thought. Why did the Kings almost blow a 3-1 series lead?

Why? The Hawks won two of the last 4 Cups so you think they'll just roll over? The Kings beat a damn good team. Let's be real here.

Nice job putting words in my mouth. I asked a question. I didn't speculate on any answers.

It is possible that the Kings have hit a wall, too. I'm not taking anything from the Hawks by saying that.
