Tanev is not fully to blame there, but I feel like he's positionally been terrible this game.

He has really been inconsistent... that goal was a bad pass by Woll and then McCabe and Matthews just got clowned on down low. Not good.

Both things can be true that Keefe didn't do his job as well as he could have and these guys are just the wrong stuff. I'd also say there were some developmental years there where having a rookie coach wasn't the right thing.

Matthews has been awful defensively. All this hype and garbage about how tough Berube is , what a joke. The true test is how he treats Matthews and Marner. Nothing has changed , just a bunch of hype and ppl giving Berube credit for stuff he hasn’t done

Benching Captain Auston Matthews tonight would be an interesting way to send a message. Atrocious defensive work for 3 goals against, a bad screen for goal 1, disconnected controller on a 4th liner in the slot for goal 2 and some major board work malfunction with McCabe for goal 3. For the new coach playing against his old team.
