GDT: St. Louis and Monty vs St. Louis and Monty

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Just wow, never expected the team to look like this.

It’s crazy how lucky we are that we got Broberg, Holloway and Montgomery. We would be near the bottom of the league without those 3.

You can throw Fowler in there too. These guys have completely saved us. I never thought we could be playing like this without Parayko, but with Fowler and Broberg anchoring the D, we actually can. Incredible. Imagine explaining this about our defense to someone a year ago lol.

I'm leaning more towards "a guy not currently in the franchise".
I have a feeling we'll be shopping for a PP specialist once Faulk, Fowler and Leddy start leaving.

Agreed. Maybe it's Clarke or Nemec? I still think Fischer has the best offensive skillset amongst our entire defensive prospects, especially being so young; I feel like he'd be a top ten pick if he were eligible.

Armstrong has had an incredible 8 months. I give him that.

Honestly just super impressed with this team. Just the way we move the puck is night and day different from the past couple of years. Even with Parayko injured I have confidence in the D to play a good game (outside of Faulk giving away the puck). Montgomery has made such a huge difference and all the props to him. Fowler is a super underated move by Army. Getting him for a 2nd with retention earlier in the season has helped so much.

Everything I have read from Pronger leads me to believe that he's a genuinely bright hockey mind. He just needs to improve his on air presence, which I am sure will come with time, and he could be great.

Also I had this opinion when Panger first left but Vitale would be a preferable option over Rivers honestly.

I recall several years ago that there was talk of him becoming a GM in the league, but that was something he wasn’t interested in doing.

His interviews are always gold, especially on the Cam & Strick podcast where him and Cam basically just bully Andy hahah.

I know it makes for less fun/interesting discussion when the season ends, but I get the feeling we’re not going to be picking in the 1st round. I think it gets moved in a package for a young RD. If the trade isn’t there, there’s no reason to force something, but regardless of how this season goes, Army/Steen have to feel fairly confident the light is now green to “spend” - filling the most obvious hole on the roster.

Bernie and Pronger is good, but I really liked Kelly and Vitale tonight. I wish they would stick with the 3 man play by play because the less I hear Rivers the better.

Vitale objectively understands the modern NHL game better than anyone else on our media team. I say that with all due respect to JK who is no slouch, and Kerbs who is an extremely entertaining listen.

I also get the sense Vitale probably has the best pulse on the team itself - it seems he’s brought in on some of the locker-room business/jokes. He alluded to how Jobu got started a few weeks ago. He was quietly beating the 18/89 injury drum prior to 4 Nations. He hinted the Parayko diagnosis wasn’t as bad as it first seemed. Etc.

Maybe not Panger level of plugged in, but, certainly more than the other guys.

I actually liked the 3 man broadcast (the whole broadcast and post game was WAY better than Bally/Fan Duel). Vitale helped de-robot Rivers and t’d him up to comment on the forward side of the game, which is a massive shortcoming in Rivers’s analysis, IMO.

Laughing at how many of us commented on the quality of the broadcast 🤣

Even as a fan of Bolduc when he was a prospect, I was not expecting his game to become as well rounded as it has become.

His development has been incredible to watch.
To add to this, I just did some quick maths and it looks like he’s doubled his point total in the last 19 games.

15 points in 19 games. Holy hell he’s exciting. If I was most worried about Bolduc becoming a good NHLer, I’m even more excited for guys like Stenberg and Snuggerud.

Thomas's wall play was ridiculous tonight, could've had 5 or 6 assists easily. Casual 4 point night for him.

God I love him lol. and the fact with kyrou and holloway on another line we can actually create matchup issues/advantages.

This team just keep winning and keeps gelling. Everyones comfortable with Montys style of play now and it's showing. Just look at the work by our low F2's on a bunch of the goals, and holloways downhill F3 work getting to the netfront and eyes on the first two goals. As well as our F2 work even just on chances and ozone possession shifts. We always work to inside position which allows us to be first on every puck down low and get body position on rebounds etc.. As a coach it's a joy to watch our consistency and structure and the way we use our skill within the monty blueprint.

LOVE the offersheet boys haha
