SSM Greyhounds 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

Randy Russon seems to think that Dean has worn out his welcome in SSM and won’t be back next season. Has anyone heard anything to support this, and/or any rumours about a potential incoming new coach?
Lol. Randy Russon hasn’t been relevant ever. It’s been very quiet, I could see Dean having them team until at least Christmas.. Days could be numbered.

lol, ive never seen a guy so clueless and loud at the same time! it was impressive
he was the opposite of a homer journalist. i swear part of the reason he disappeared was his relentless criticism of the hiring of the "kid", aka Kyle Dubas. unfortunately Bill wasn't around to publicly eat crow as Doobie was the best thing that happened to the greyhounds since 93.

p.s. mediocre old dudes are always good at being clueless and loud.

i think he cared more about being heard, seen and popular vs being right.

Hats off to Raftis. I was very critical of the horrible draft and it has worked out in the end. Croskery and many many other big names!

This camp is going to be awesome

Just left Battalion camp and Sorry to say SOO fans but Cali sure looks good in a Troop uniform
No regrets from our side. We got another first rounder and a bunch of picks for a who who isn't fully committed to playing junior hockey.

I hope he does well in North Bay and it works out for both sides.

A ton of regret here. We got a pittance for him, and he fits in our window much better than the comp pick does.

Some thoughts from dev camp.
08's
- pangretitsch is really good. Hulking 6'4 dman that can play. He and croskery looked great together
- croskery wasn't flashy but man is he poised. Scored a goal yesterday.
- Isiah allen was good. Fast and didn't panic. I honestly would love to see all 3 of those 08s on the squad this year.
- nolan long was good too. Smooth and smart. Looks a bit bigger than last years camp too so that's a plus.
- carson andrew was dominant playing against his own age group.
- brady t was really good today. Slow start yesterday but was fast and strong today.

09s
- kaczynski was very very good. I can see him being dominant in a year or 2. Made numerous good plays and can score.
- Karsten barbeau was really good as well. Big but fast and uses his body well. Also scored a couple nice goals
- Cameron Anderson is huge. And not afraid to knock people around. Threw a ton of big hits this weekend and scored a nice goal.
- laus showed flashes. Has a great shot. I think at 18 and 19 this kid will dominate.
- arnone may be our biggest steal. He's a bit small right now but man can that kid play. The puck follows him, and he doesn't panic. Made numerous well timed passes and scored at least 3 this weekend.

Overall really excited about our 08s and 09s. Such fast hockey.

great points. I also like Chase Bailey-Reid. Big body, and knows how to use it. Was quite noticeable and plays a direct game.
Pangretitsch might have been the best D on the ice.
Wang was noticeable, even for his lack of stature.
For the goalies I was impressed by Cossais and Soliman.

I thought Ferguson was the best goalie yesterday and thought he played really well today too

Croskery and Pangretitsch looked like must-sign players if they are willing. It will be interesting to see which current players are moved if that comes to pass.

What players do you think will be moved?
Well we are down one dee a with Carlyle gone we can probably upgrade BMB with size and more defensive and I hate to say but maybe our import , I didn’t see anything that warrants a import spot from him …my thoughts

With BMB being 19 next year and the fronts probably losing a bunch of guys especially on back end (AHL/Aging out/Trades to cut down) I wonder if we try and get him for cheap. Veteran D who could play top 4 prob on a rebuilding team.

Or something like we give you McGowan who will be a great OA d for BMB and picks.

Shows your OA’s next year as Cloutier, Mignosa and Velliaris. I assume Velliaris won’t be back and they target a D in off season- trade deadline period. Perhaps McGowan would be among the ones you guys are interested in. Voted 2nd most underrated player in eastern conference

It's easy to say Brodie, but the potential logjam is on the right side. I think we might let Holub explore other options and maybe a guy like Gillen could be moved to a better situation. I think Reid and Solomon deserve the lion's share of the minutes on that side.

I don't think we'll add an OA defenseman, given the aforementioned logjam. I would expect us to use that spot on a centre.
