SSM Greyhounds 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

Great point about an import goalie. Actually, I completely gapped on the open import spot when I made my roster construction post. Import goalie would be awesome assuming we pick a good one. That seems to be our achilles heel.
True story. Was saying last night that it must be so nice to expect that your goaliebis going to make every save. Costanzo was solid throughout. Never panicking, always in the right spot, never flopping around.

either go out and get the best import goalie or figure out a way to get ivankovic, but we need a solid tender to backstop this team moving forward.

I would love to see what Ivankovic goes for at age 18.

Why would they move him next season? Likely the season after.

It’s possible they move him next season, but you might be right. They are graduating 8 players, most of which are NHL drafted. They will not likely contend next year or the year after.

Correct me if I’m wrong:

Hounds should have a strong forward group next season.
? mark will be the D core and goaltending .
Hopefully Croskery reports and hounds add on D with a strong import pick on D +
add a couple big strong defensemen via trade or a high end 3rd overage to be a defensemen.
I am predicting there 2 first round picks in this OHL draft will be forwards.

We need to address our lack centre depth more than anything, as we essentially have nothing behind Martin. Andrew and Brady R. Smith are not centres, while Brown and Vader cannot be counted on to make meaningful contributions.

We'll have to ship out a defender or two if we want to make additions, as we have a strong group of 6 returning. We can expect at least Reid and Solomon to make substantial leaps.

Unless they have rock solid intel Daley plans on reporting (>99%), we best avoid that pick. We can't afford any more flyer picks/defections after last year.

It's now updated on the draft page:

6 123 Soo from London

8 150 Soo
9 166 Soo from Sarnia
9 170 Soo
11 210 Soo
12 230 Soo
12 241 Soo from Windsor
13 250 Soo
14 270 Soo
15 290 Soo

Not sure what happened to the 69th overall pick, or where the 166th overall and 226th overall came from?

EDIT: 69th overall NB 4th in 2025 went from NB to SAR on Jan 6 in the Sandis Vilmanis trade.

I would like to see the Hounds take Saultite Adam Pszeniczny the U16 Soo Greyhounds captain. He has size and is a right shot center who has played in all game situations.

Love local talent but the organization doesn’t seem to agree over the years .

Haven’t seen this name, where do you see him going? What pick would Hounds need to use to get him?

I don't see us taking a risk like Daley at 19. I believe we don't get another compensation pick if the player doesn't sign. Can someone confirm?

That is correct cannot apply for defected draft player 2 years in a row.

Don’t think they will go that route with Daley making the USNTDP u17 team now.

I’m surprised to hear that Daley Jr. is going this route considering Vanbiesbrouck’s involvement with the program.
It would be really neat to see him play for the Hounds but not looking likely :(

Anyone know the status/intentions of ‘24
no-shows goalie William Camputaro and d-man Harris Pangretitsch?

Not having a 2nd-round pick sucks.

Some good news on the above two would be welcome.

Camputauro is supposed to be coming to fight for a spot from what i read in ruicci's article a week or so ago
Thanks.

I’ll comb for that one. That might not be the only worthy nugget I missed.

Edit: Found it.

Croskery is mentioned as a possibility. That would be huge. Fingers crossed.

He’d more than make up for that missing 2nd-rounder.
