Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Brandon Davidson for Spurgeon and Haula. JEE has cemented himself as a regular on the roster, making Haula a little more expendable than he was last season.

New lines for MIN:

Parise-RNH-Coyle
Niederreiter-Koivu-Granlund
Pulkkinen-Staal-Pominville
Zucker-JEE-Stewart
Dalpe

Suter-Dumba
Scandella-Brodin
Davidson-Folin
Prosser

And Edmonton:

Lucic-McDavid-Eberle
Maroon-Draisaitl-Puljujarvi
Pouliot-Haula-Kassian
Lander-Letestu-Pitlick
Slepyshev

Sekera-Spurgeon
Klefbom-Larsson
Russell-Nurse
Gryba, Fayne (IR)

Wild don't need a bottom pairing Dman coming back, nor can they take on salary. In previous years I would've said add a first and it'd be a deal, but EDM's new found competence makes their 1st less appealing.

Don't know that RNH is all that much of a catch at 6m per, either. The cap matters! Rather keep Haula, and ride him, the up and coming Ek, Staal, and Koivu at C till Kunin arrives. We can always stick Granlund or Coyle back at C at need.

The way Staal is playing he and Koivu would be in the top 6 at C, not RNH.

I think the Wild have to look at young, draft ineligible, forward prospects coming back in return and hope to hit a homerun.

Btw, not a fan of the Johnson offer. Nice player but the Wild need to get bigger playing in this division.

It's VERY early, but if Ek sticks we have another big player, and a C no less, who is going to play even bigger in years to come. Tuch should be up within the year, also, and Greenway within two. Leaves us free to consider a talented, but smaller, player.

Staal and Stewart have both been added, who are big bodies.

That would be a dumb way to run a hockey team. Really shouldn't matter at all.

Agreed. Shouldn't matter at all. Johnson being an RFA after this year, his declining production, and his small stature all matter, though. What happened last year?

In what world is this an equal trade? If Wild are going to trade for a forward they need a forward who scores. The world is full bottom sixers who don't.

Scandella scored more points than him last year, and he's a defensive Dman!

The world where we get the top 4 leftie defensemen that we need very badly, for a young disposable asset we won't miss.
