I still have a bad feeling they're gonna do something stupid. We just keep seeing Espinal starting games with the regular lineup and Clement coming in as a mid-game replacement and starting on the road with the B-squad.

I am thinking about it, maybe Espinal is being showcased for a trade?

I expect it too. They're gonna lean on "Santiago was an all-star not that long ago" as if he hasn't been offensively inept since that point. And I'm not saying he's sub-MLB level or anything either. If Clement wasn't here I'd be ok with Espinal as the utility IF on the bench. But with Kiner-Falefa, Biggio, Schneider, and Turner all theoretically capable of playing multiple IF positions I'd much rather star the year with the guy who's been showing a useful bat and doesn't require waivers to get sent down. If Espinal goes to Buffalo and rakes while Clement struggles then make the switch, fine. But it'd be stupid asset management to highly risk losing Clement for nothing just to keep a guy who we know right now appears to be an OK defensive option with subpar offensive ability.

ST be damned, gotta feel good to see the offence trending up. Hopefully this caps off nicely at the end of the month and they carry that confidence into the season. Only team that has scored more in either league is the Dodgers.

Haha, possibly. I haven’t really been watching the games so I don’t know how he looks out there.

Well, let me put it like this. You know how folks on here have written that Schneider hasn't looked good so far this spring training? Well, he has an OPS about 200 points higher than Espinal:

(obviously can't draw too many conclusions from ST, but I think we know who Espinal is at this point)

Bo's been excellent this spring, hitting over .400 with a .912 OPS. Among players likely to make the team, that puts him behind Springer, Vlad, Turner, Varsho, IKF, Biggio, Kirk, and Clement.

As little as Spring Training means, everyone hitting well is obviously way better than the alternative.

Yeah, he's doing some things well (walking and making tons of contact) but he's also just hitting everything into the dirt, and the walks won't keep up at that rate when you start facing more major league pitchers and they realize you're not a threat if they just lob it down the middle.

What makes Clement so interesting right now is that he's making contact with (literally) everything and showing some pop.

He's still a quality player. The issue is that Clement is similar at a much lower price (could even be better).

Espinal should have trade value given that he could theoretically be better than a few teams' starters at 2B or SS (and can be a platoon mate if a team has a lefty with platoon splits)

The reasoning behind its removal was stupid and archaic. You don't lose games because you have fun on the bench. You lose games because you're not good enough. Lou Lamoriello is asking his players to shave and it's not giving him free cup.
Absolutely agree. The idea that the team didn't win because they had to much fun was always ridiculous. They let the drunk uncles on Twitter win and in turn last season was incredibly boring lol all aboard bringing back the HR celly's.

So no Cease to the Yanks. Boras must be excited.

I really wish the Yanks don't cave. Boras needs to be put in his place.

That’s actually a pretty heavy trade on the Padres part, though they didn’t sacrifice any big pieces in their system. Likely needed that or else he would’ve went to the Yanks for their 8th + 17th + unranked trio of prospects.

thankfully I didn't watch the video. The article I was on said "the video is below. You've been warned" after explaining the situation and I was immediately like "Nope!" and closed the tab.
The still image was all that’s require. No reason to look any further
