Amtrak auto train is running a kids ride free sale again. Plus tickets to Crayola world in Florida. It would save us about 700 bucks compared to airfare and a car rental.

Just got to our hotel on the beach. My daughter surprised me with a beachfront room. It is cloudy here but tomorrow's supposed to be better. We are just hanging out in our room listening to the waves. We skipped lunch but will go for an early dinner

Tomorrow is supposed to be very nice, and I'm counting on it as I am BBQing all day while hosting the family. It's my first dry run before my wife is officially a mother. Got my sister / her family, my mom, and my dad headed over. The ribs are a big draw so not being able to do them will be a disappointment for all.

I used to train places. I liked it more than flying.

I took the train to work for 8 years. Finally tried the auto train last year with the kids and I loved it. The kids gave it mixed reviews, they had a little trouble sleeping. If we didn’t have to drive to Virginia first it would be a no brainer. But that drive, and getting there by 2pm is tough with kids.

I really don’t like flying. I’ve driven to Florida too many times though, and I swore two years ago was the last time

Just got my pit going.

An hour to get the fire roaring and at the right height and temperature.
15 minutes to cook everything.
30 minutes to eat.
1 hour to stare at the fire trying to figure out what to do with it now and not just waste it.

Pork steaks were delicious, though.

Check the connections on the back, see if any hoses are dripping from there. If all the connections are dry, then check any filters the machine has(consult your manual) and see if they need to be cleaned/unclogged. If they are not clogged, you are going to have to crack the machine open and see if it's a hose seal or not, which will take a handyman.

If your machine is around 10 years old, then you should start saving/looking for a new one.

The 5% chance of it being 45 years old is cracking me up. Although they did seem to last a lot longer in those days.

I got an IKEA dresser from my mom’s neighbor for $25. I looked it up because I do have to reattach one of the drawer rails and it sells for almost $300!

I was able to get the replacement screws and pull handle from IKEA directly at no cost. I also bought anchors to fix the bowing on the drawer bottoms. If they don’t help, I’ll have to call ikea directly to see if they would be willing to sell me them.

I swear by the Ikea 'highest level' ranges, half of our draw or table based furniture is from Ikea. There is a super cheap level that is total crap, a medium level that is hit or miss, but their top of the range stuff is solid pine wood and if it was put together well it'll really last.

We are slowly replacing it in the 'main' stuff, but we're stepping the stuff down across the house instead of getting rid of it. It's too nice to toss and so functional. If it was up to me 100% of anything that isn't a bed or seat would be Ikea.

This has solid pine sides but the bottoms of the drawer are that cheap mdf shit. The woman has had it for awhile and now the bottoms are bowed. I got curious after watching a few repair videos and took the obnoxious tape she put on the bottoms and then took the drawer almost apart and fixed the bottom so at least it is tighter than before. I have wedge clips that I ordered and will be using them to further secure it. If they fail then I’ll have to put bars underneath.

I’m not planning to stuff the drawers full as I have a very large closet but I’d like to make sure a pair of jeans doesn’t buckle the bottom further.

If all else fails, I’ll be buying thin plywood and asking my uncle for help fixing the drawers.

It is 100% worth fixing

My dining room table and my glasses and plates/bowls are all ikea.

IMO you're not in a real relationship until you've had a fight at an IKEA calmed by their chocolate cake in the food court. We've been twice, barely made it out married the second time. They should expand by offering divorce counsel at the checkout lines.

They should offer all types of counseling haha. The cinnamon buns are the best.
