OT - NO POLITICS Spring has sprung

My kid lives in Calif. I would take a blizzard over a fire any day (having a standby generator helps)

Also, I love New England. Love all of the seasons. The education (if you have kids) is the best. Health care is the best. I live within an hour from the ocean, mountains and Boston.

I would never live where the temps are over 100. I don't care if it is a "dry heat". NOPE.

There are many states you couldn't pay me to live in.

New England IS the best.

I know your pain....old phone died. Many hockey words were used to get the new one working. I hate passwords with a white hot passion. Took me three days to transfer everything.

Soccer game at home for the twins tonight. We could tell two minutes into warmups that the visiting Mashpee was gonna dominate lol it was ugly. I predicted 10-1

I think it was 7-1 for the final, so not bad! The boys busted their ass. I give them credit for fighting the uphill battle. As for the ginger twins, we got a goal from a deflection off his hip, and his brother played goalie in the 4th quarter and posted a goose egg! Even made a diving save

The deflection goal was hilarious. It was such an underdog celebration from all the parents too. The score didn’t matter. It was just a feel good moment.

The best part, they both came home happy …and TIRED.

My daughter played for a soccer team as a u14 one year....they won every game (she was a goalie)

Next year coach decided instead of u15 they would play u18....they won every game easily...
Hey let's play premier and play teams from NYC..

We got wasted every game
One of them had a soccer pro as a sponsor....these teams wouldn't even look to find a teammate....they would pass to a spot knowing their teammate was already there

My husband and I travel a lot (I’m typing this from a beautiful oceanfront balcony in the Bahamas). We meet a lot of people and see a lot of places.

Couldn’t pay me to live anywhere else.

i find the quality of life being far better in CA than MA. with how comparable the cost is now between both of them being able to have nice weather year round and the amount of things to do makes it much more enjoyable.

I miss the fall and occasional snow in NH (not huge blizzards though), but appreciate that California is consistent weather wise. Never many extremes and I can garden all year round. I don't like the people that much though and don't feel as safe as I did in suburban New England.

I always say I should move to Texas or Arizona for the cost of living and get a 5 bed 3 bath with a huge lot for like $400k, but I don't think I'd actually be able to stand the weather in those places.

Ideally having a house in NH and CA and going back and forth between them seasonally as I retire would be best. I did also like the mid Atlantic when I lived in PA for a couple years, could see myself living there too.

I've lived in Maryland (22 years), Florida (14 years), and Tennessee (18 years). There are things I like about all three states, but I am most happy in Tennessee now.

We are absolutely thriving after our move to the Southwest. Honestly, the only other place I would live other than Arizona is Maine--I enjoy the beauty there. Economically it was a no brainier--what we paid for a 2 bed 870 sq. ft apartment/townhome in Mass was our mortgage here for 4,000 sq ft. We added solar which made it economical as well. 10.5 months out of the year it's delightful here. We only get extremes from July -end of august. sometimes parts of June. We are in low 90s today and its warmish but not hot, beautiful and we had breakfast on the patio. We won't get to 110-115 until July, and honestly anything below that is perfectly tolerable because of the wind here. The desert air and low humidity have everything to do with that. It hit 122 last year for 2 days....you just don't plan errands on that day. It's just like preparing for a N'oreaster. Everything here has a/c so unless you're hiking, you're not "in it." I admit, I sometimes miss slow drizzly days....they allow for introspection and pause.

When we travel east I'm reminded of how gray it is--the sun really does something to you when you live it every day. (I never thought I would fall in love with the desert, the plants and the sky.) I understand though, it's not for everyone. You either acclimate to the desert or it swallows you up, its unforgiving for sure.

edit: things required for a desert climate
-Patience driving :D
-towel for the car seat and every metal part of the car lol
-water, always always water
-a good understanding of dust storms
-gardening knowledge, the cliche ground s*cks to grow things in

Here's something you'll never get in California. It is also the best reason to live in New England, the people, because they help keep you grounded:

I have been to Calif several times (because my daughter lives there). She lives in Napa so it isn't so hot, BUT the Summers are very dry (hence the fires) and boring. Parts are very pretty ...to visit.

I love the 4 seasons.

It is probably just me because New England is home but I like the people here better.

I would NEVER live anywhere HOT. Also, I want to be able to get to the ocean whenever I feel like it.

I like Canada too

I don't follow horse racing at all but I like to watch the Triple Crown races.

Muddy track today
