OT - NO POLITICS Spring has sprung

My younger brother is being booted from his place in Somerville in a few months. Landlords kid is taking over. He works near Broadway, occasionally Wellington, so anywhere between the two is I believe where he’s looking to land.

Any leads out there?

It’s brutal out there right now. Rent in the area is completely insane. Good luck to him

He said "starting at 25" for a 1 bed, and everything is owned by slumlords and/or property management groups. Sounds gross.

Yup, sounds right.

My mom lives in a very nice (property managed) complex. 1 bed, 700 sq feet. Her new lease just came in at just over $3k/month. She feels stuck because she knows it’s ridiculous, but anything much cheaper will be slummy.

Officially paying double our mortgage for half the space.

I have no words for how legitimately insane that is.

I thought it was bad in Tennessee, and it is, but not quite THAT bad :help:

Had to go into the office today, I’m a remote worker but once in a while we go in for important meetings.

Didn’t take into account that we’d go out afterwards. It was sunny, and I get sunburned watching TV but had hopes we wouldn’t be outdoors.

Went to an outdoor beer garden, did my best to stay in the shade, got sunburned anyway after 45 minutes.

Time to start carrying SPF 50 in a holster.

Good morning!

I present to you, the most Boston photo ever

thats rough. Im in central mass and have a nice 2 bedroom in a luxury complex for $1700. Eastern mass is just a ripoff.
electric and water is a combined 75 a month. Ill stay here forever if it doesnt go up too much. No yardwork, no shovelling. Ill never want a house- especially with all that extra work/shit that can go wrong and tax bullshit.
plus I never like to stay home. Im always over the ladys house, hanging with friends or playing sports, activities.

At that price, I wouldn't leave either. It used to be that the south shore was where you could get cheaper rents and still be close enough to Boston. Then those rents shot up, and it was just the Southcoast/New Bedford area where the cheap rents were. I can safely say, from experience, that New Bedford rents are mostly insane now too.
