OT - NO POLITICS Spring has sprung

Hunker down and keep your vehicles enclosed i guess. Here in northern KY we are in a flood watch from now til Sunday. Annoying because my apartment bedroom window leaks when it pours buckets but it depends how windy it gets.
Thankfully the storm was done after about 15 minutes. My living room window leaks as well especially when the rain comes down sideways. I put towels on every windowsill once the rain started and without fail, it was the only one that leaked. I'm not really thrilled about having to wash them now lol.

I moved my car from the roof to a covered floor yesterday afternoon when it looked like we might get something between 4-8pm. I backed into a space so that if hail bounced into the garage, it would take out my back window lol.

We are in a wet pattern until Sunday but I don't think we have any severe threats thankfully. Happy storm season!

RIP Val Kilmer

One of my all time favorites is the 1985 comedy "Real Genius," in which Val gives an outsized and delightfully silly performance.

Not exactly "Citizen Kane," but viewed countless times.

Bill Atherton is pitch perfect as the designated Assh*le, and the cast is good.

Michelle Meyrink is also an enjoyable presence, on a couple of levels,

A former coworker posted on FB last night that she has been dealing with what she thought was sciatica since September. Long story short, they found out last week it wasn't sciatica, but cancer, in multiple places. Treatable but not curable.

These types of stories freak me out.

We are about 2 hours from Tombstone. there's quite a bit of homage to him there, nice to see.
tombstone is a fantastic trip if anyone is coming to the southwest. I thought it would be cheesey, but it was quite historic and well done.

It was also 112 degrees in true dusty desert, so bring a hat.

Yeah, its about 7 hours for me. Been meaning to make the trip down there to see it all

Make sure you have an insurance adjuster come out and take a look at your roof. IF the hail was that big and lasted that long, you may need new shingles.
I believe the roof of my apartment complex is concrete which is probably why it sounded like someone was dropping weights. I did see people out looking at things earlier when I went out so I'm sure they checked the roof.

Why is hail always described as the size of something else?

And it's always compared to something hard and solid. You never hear about strawberry sized hail.
Comparing hail to an object like a nickle or golf ball is to make it easier for the public to understand not only the size but also the damage that could be done to roofs, cars etc. Essentially, they follow the rule keep it simple, stupid.

Great write up by NOAA: Hail Basics

Last night, David Pastrnak and Nikita Zadorov greeted Maxim Naumov, the 23-year-old American figure skater who recently lost his parents and Skating Club of Boston coaches Zhenya and Vadim in the tragic plane crash earlier this year in Washington.
Maxim took part in last week’s ISU World Figure Skating Championships and received a lengthy standing ovation from the crowd at TD Garden.
Stay strong, Maxim!
