The Joplin tornado documentary on Netflix was meh. Could have done without the CGI and fake lightning track. I think it was great it was centered on the survivors but they did a terrible job weaving them together. I also thought they botched the story of the out of town teen meteorologist. They missed a great sub story about mentorship. I'm glad they left in information about the bacteria outbreak but IMO, it needed more time and felt like it was just filler to complete the film.

I definitely think people should watch it but I encourage people to also watch other documentaries on it.

If you're going to make a documentary on a real life event, you need to make sure you are also educating audience members who know nothing about the event.

On the way home I passed two dead deer on the side of the road, about a quarter mile apart, each with their own flock of vultures.... doing what vultures do. Uggghhhhh. Those things creep me out.

Be kind as it is the first thing I built in my ceramics class. A steampunk printed mug that I painted in fire engine red underglaze and then wiped off to highlight the gears. It got two coats of clear glaze to make it food safe. I still have coasters to finish but I’m looking forward to the next session.

We have seen more deer in the last week than we have for months. Unfortunately, with them on the move there are always ones that get hit. It is really sad to see, they are such beautiful animals.

I took a ceramics class on a date night. Spinning wheel and all. It is VERY difficult.

I think that came out fantastic.

Thank You guys!

I've definitely gotten better over the last 7 weeks and am looking forward to making a travel mug next class along with some condiment cups. I'm definitely not ready for the wheel so I may take this handbuilding class again in the fall before I feel confident enough to try the wheel.

Andrew, as soon as I saw the gear roller on the table I knew I had to use it. I'm going to use it again on a smaller mug but only in the center and on one side. I'm hoping to find a more antique/sepia underglaze to use as well.
