And any chance they had of me renewing my SN+ service in the fall once hockey season started just went out the window.

With my TV service cord being cut next month looks like my days of watching Bruins hockey has come to an end.

I have cancelled. If the product was good, maybe I could accept it because I watch all the Bruins games this way. We do not have cable and I have no intention of ever going back.

There are so many technical issues with the app and they screw up the feeds. Sometimes it freezes, loops, loses sound, kicks us out in the middle of a game, it just goes on and on. It has got worse since they took over and not one thing has been improved. Screw them! I guess I will be listening only, watching condensed games for now.

To give perspective, it was $179 a year before this in 2021-22 - here is the history of the increases. They have been plotting for a while, just look at the "discount" history.

It can't be understated how brutal their app is. I'd argue it's the worst app I've ever used on any device.

That's brutal, don't think I want to fork out that much, I can still get probably 40-50 games with my regular Sportsnet coverage.

We use to be able to get NHL Game Center LIve for $99 a year, that was great and the product was so much better, you could choose between home or away brodcast. I will not get SN+ and have already dropped the crazy price Rogers charges for super sports pack $40 + tax per month. People will find alternative ways.

NHL TV is good, cheap, pretty reliable and offers both home and away broadcasts for most games, but is technically not available in Canada (or the USA for that matter). However there are likely ways around that if anyone had an interest in doing so.

It is silly that it is easier to watch NHL outside of North America than in it, but the world can be a crazy place.

Count me as another person who's finally been priced out by Sportsnet and the NHL. Since Rogers folded NHL Live into Sportsnet +, the price I've paid has increased each year from $180 to $200 to $250 to now $325. That's an 80% increase in price in three years!!! Wtf

Truth be told I was already on the fence about whether I was even going to renew next year at $250 as that's already an outrageous price for an inferior streaming service. Rogers is an awful, awful company and Sportsnet has always been the absolute worst as far as Canadian sports broadcasting is concerned behind TSN and even CBC back in the day.

I've also grown pretty unhappy with the NHL as a product itself in recent years as well. Expansion diluting the talent pool, game management rendering the rules arbitray moment to moment, the general dimishment of hitting and fighting and the almost complete elimination of genuine, nasty rivalries has resulted in most NHL games being boring, vanilla affairs in my opinion. Add to that advertisements on the uniforms (unforgivable imo), digital ads on the boards, the relentless pushing of gambling every second of every game and I simply don't get the same enjoyment from watching hockey that I did a decade ago. Basically if the Bruins aren't playing (or, to a lesser extent, McDavid), I don't care.

Of course, it certainly helps me cope that the Bruins are likely not going to be very good again next year hahaha.

It's all been downhill since SN took over from Center Ice.

Price increase of 65% in two years

You can no longer choose which feed you want to follow you are force feed SN feed which is brutal.

They can't even bother to create an app you have to chromocast.

glitches up the wazoo. Non stop freeze frame.

Blackouts, now you're taking subscribers for stupid. I mean Montreal is one thing , but Ottawa too?

You know what SN? I'm done .

Cancelled my subscription last night, not only will you not be getting my money for next season but by Quebec law you need to reimburse me for the unused portion.

I'll move on too pirate streams.

Congratulations, you screwed yourself.

Depending on the province that's a huge increase when you figure in the taxes - here in BC the total comes to $363.99 after taxes. :help:

Great post! I am encouraged by the amount of people cancelling, I just hope fans stick to the decision once the season starts. That is crazy that you are blacked out for two teams. The arm twisting is over for me, I love the Bruins but won't be bullied. I loathe Rogers for many reasons and they just went up a notch.

Pirate streams are not great but, quite honestly, the quality isn't much different at this point.

That increase by SN is unreasonable. I am also cancelling them and alot of other channel BTW. Few liberties remain, and where I put my money is at the top. So it won't go to SN.

Looks like Bell TV in Canada, you can get Center Ice by itself, unlike Rogers Super sports pack. Not sure how much it is for the year.

Can someone tell me the reason for this f***ing hike to true people loving hockey other than the cash grab.

Sportsnet isn’t really that good
Basically
They paid $11billion for NHL streaming rights for 10? Years.
They need to find a way to make money.
I’m pretty sure they sold games to Amazon last year to help make money back on their last deal.

Hilarious how many people are canceling though. Which makes sense. You can’t jack the price up that much while adding nothing new. Pretty sure they stream in 720p also.

Rogers pretty much owns Canada though so not surprised to see them try to gouge more money out of us in Canada.

Hopefully people cancelling makes them realize this is a mistake but somehow they’ll come out of it making money

I cancelled almost immediately. Was contemplating cancelling before the hike.

The product is pretty terrible on just about every platform and only seems to be getting worse. I pretty much use it year round watching the Bruins and Blue Jays, so I could probably stomach the increase if there were promises of better service or new features. In fact, I'd be willing to pay more for more.

I watch probably 90% of the games while in progress from the the start. After everyone else is down for bed. More often than not the game result will be spoiled by a random skip ahead to somewhere in the 3rd or glitching right back to the beginning every 5 mins. Without fail. Doesn't matter if I'm using web browser on my PC, Google tv app, Samsung, my phone etc. This has been an ongoing issue since it launched. I spend more time skipping ahead and back trying to find my spot than I do watching.

I'll find another way to consume. It probably won't be as frequent and easy, but at least I'll get what I'm paying for.

Did anyone else get the questionnaire regarding terminating services?
They offered a checklist with suggestions as to the reasons. Boy they seemed to know exactly what their shortcomings are besides the price gouge.
