I was impressed with them. They need to fix the color a bit so it blends with the rink better.

Once the issues are fixed, I won't mind seeing them. They're a LOT better than the ads they use behind the net on the glass.

Watching the games yesterday here in Finland on Viasat half of the imposed ads seemed to be Russian ones for some reason. Maybe they have the same feed for all of Europe I don't know. Some of the ads are distracting because they stand out and don't look natural.

This is an NHL initiative rather than the networks. There are 4 ad feeds: one for English Canada, one for French Canada, one for the US and one for Europe (reason why Finns are seeing Russian ads).

Technology behind it comes from an European company that has done it for football matches for 5 years+.

But it doesn't compare to the massive Rolex CGI ad shown on Singapore FI this weekend - basically blocked out the cars racing by.

I did not find it distracting at all, and while I am often critical of the NHL, I have no qualms with them increasing their revenues anyway possible as long as (big assumption coming) that a significant share of it permeates through the system.

This is a no-brainer from a corporate perspective, and did not detract from the game one bit for me. In future broadcasts they can micro-target their ads for every single locality increasing ad-revenue - without putting ads directly on the jerseys or increasing commercial-time.

Even if you think this is a instrusive move, it's the best intrusive move possible

Doesn't bother me at all. If this is a way they can generate ad revenue without putting ads on jerseys then I say keep doing it.

I didn't notice any adds but I only watched half the game because I got thirsty and was really craving a gatoraid..

Seriously though I find them too bright. They just don't look like they belong there. Maybe if they could fine tune it a little more so it doesn't look that much different than regular board adds I wouldn't mind.

I like the idea. I prefer one continuous ad on the boards rather than a mishmash of logos, and at the end of the game, the team logo and graphics looked really cool. If they can iron out the execution I will be happy with them. Way better than digital ads on the glass, ill say that at least

Lol distracting.... This is extremely normal in other sports such as football(soccer) in europe. But i noticed it yesterday because i dont think ive seen it in the nhl before. But if thats distracting/annoying/problem u guys dont have alot of problems in ur lifes.
