Thought we could have little more lighter hearted thread where people can share some of the more improbable in the NHL (current and past) as we wait for training camps to start

I'll start with two as an Oilers fan.

1.) In 1988 the Oilers were en route to sweep the Boston Bruins. What no one knew could have imagined at the time was game 4 which to be played at the Boston Garden would be Wayne Gretzky's last game as an Oiler if they had won the game. By an odd stroke of luck, the power in the Boston Garden went out with a 3-3 game and the game had to be relocated back to Edmonton. I could be wrong but I think this is the only time that's ever happened in a Cup Final?

The Oilers would win the game in Edmonton and that would be Gretzky's last game as an Oiler ... almost like the hockey gods wanted his last game to be in front of the Oiler crowd. What are the odds on that?

Funny clip of TSN's Bob McKenzia circa 1988 there too.

2.) The Calgary Flames have made the Cup Final in 1986, 1989, and 2004. Their provincial rival, the Oilers have then made the Cup Final in the very next season every single time (1987, 1990, 2006 post lockout). And 2/3 times was after the Gretzky era which makes this unusually improbable.

Wasn't there some event where the Leafs had a pregame ceremony for one of their alumni of the past who I think had passed away and there were some strange coincidences that happened during the game like the Leafs scoring at certain times that aligned with the player's number or something like that? I apologize because I don't remember the details or who the player was but I think this ceremony was like 7-8 years ago? Maybe some Leafs fans know what I'm referring to?

Well, it wasn't during a game... it was actually during a performance of the Ice Capades, but there was that time when the roof blew off the Spectrum

Nothing will ever beat this, which was posted in September 2015:

Big Rings said:
Mark my words boys, [Matt Bartkowski]s gonna score a goal in the 2nd Period on February 25th vs. the Sens. If he doesn't I'm buying a Luca Sbisa Millionaires jersey.

Not coincidences. Just crazy shit:

I believe the first owners of Tampa Bay Lightning were the Yakuza.

Hartford Whalers were a ponzi scheme, and one of the owners committed suicide before being sentenced.

Islanders 1st round pick Duncan Macpherson:

That infamous Jeremy Roenick prank.

Brian Spencer

Jamie Rivers died in a game. Then came back to life.

Surprised no conspiracy theories have sprung up around that, seems par for the course anytime there is a power outage in a big game.

Plenty of lore around the power outage at Camden Yards during Cal Ripken’s streak, the 49ers Super Bowl a few years ago, etc
