Post-Game Talk: Spoilers

I'd much rather give up our first this year instead of going all next year knowing the Penguins are getting our pick.
Yup, Certainty better than uncertainty so even from the futures / prospects pool management perspective it's better to make playoffs and give up this draft pick in a weak draft year too. Pretty easy decision making here.

So basically we got out goalied again .

No, not at all...as others have said, they didn't play particularly bad. But they generated nothing, so no you can't say they got 'goalied'.

The drop pass on zone entries on the power play is embarrassing in how predictable it is. As is Panarin force feeding one timers. As is Fox never shooting from the point. Mika and Kreider may as well have not been on the ice for it.

Last night the issue was faceoffs. I think they lost the opening faceoff cleanly every time for an Oilers clear. They actually did a good job re-entering and getting setup after though.

As a whole the PP does suck and not goon enough, just a microcosm of the team itself really.

I'd say they were lucky a lot.

I guarantee you most Presidents' Trophy teams are at the top of the league in that stat. This is hockey you'll be down in games quite often. And the Rangers have done well in that stat three straight years. And if they were lucky last year, are they unlucky this year or does that only work when you want to trash the team?

but they are getting old, we shouldn't expect their prime production going forward. Bringing in younger guys, they wont replace prime Panarin/Kreider production right away, but thats where development comes in
I agree but I have large doubts any of our current rookies (Oth, Berard) will ever become Bread or CK. We will have to keep looking for that kind of production.

The difference between the playoffs and not has been the play of our top forwards. Kreider getting a ton of minutes to be useless. Trocheck trying to be a hero and failing miserably. Panarin sitting in his office as far from the net as you could possible be. I feel like they spent all game trying to feed JT (who stunk tonight) so he could be the hero and take the mantle from them. We need to move on from these overpaid bums who have worn out their welcome
Glad you said it, because that is what I wanted to point out. He's been great, and has gotten the accolades for it, but he really did stink yesterday. 2 backhanded passes that got out of the zone another few into turnovers. Missed shots, was unlucky with that post shot, guess you cant be good every game, def was off. Don't wanna bash Jones, as everyone has said it all already.

I'm less angry about this game, because they actually competed. 3 games in 4 nights but just didn't have enough to win. Igor was good but NEEDED to be the one to win it 2-1, but noooooo!

I couldn't tell you since I haven't trashed the team.

I'm an HF doc in training, but I noticed yesterday while Kreider was waiting for Miller to get off the ice after the first period. He was standing how I stand if I'm standing too long with a stiff and sore back, usually after the gym. I'm not saying it still bothers him, but it's just something I noticed. I never really noticed him doing that before, and he's frequently shown waiting for teammates after the period.

This is a symptom of being butt hurt.

This might be the weakest team mentally I've ever seen. The only team in the league without a multiple goal comeback, outside of a 4 game stretch where we had 3 3rd period comebacks to win we can't play from behind all season. As soon as the fluke goal went in to make it 2-1 you knew they wouldn't tie it. They proceeded to f***ing fan on 5 different shots in the next 3 minutes. The team is full of f***ing chokers.
Yes and also the most offensively inept team in the league

This is the vital insider information I come back here every day craving.

Team has not had an official winning streak since mid NOV , every time I think I am going to get to use the we back up meme in the PGT I am left disappointed ...........seems like 2 wins in a row is all they can muster .......

Going 2-1-1 every 4 game will probably get them a spot.

Off tangent but MSG has been airing after games an awesome documentary series called This Is Hockey. It's produced by the league and chronicles organized hockey in Latin and South America.
