Speculation: Speculation, rumours and fanciful ideas on trades, Free Agents and arriving prospects 25/26 season

I can't imagine any UFA sees the Jets coming out of the Central. We are in a shitty position.
We certainly won’t be getting any good top end FA without a significant overpay, even then I don’t see it happening. Getting bottom six guys, bottom pairing LHD still doable.

If what he said about wanting to go to a contender now , probably rules us out.

Depends on if he wants contender or just a team that can make some noise in the playoffs. With Larkin at 2C we have the pieces to at least be a WC team especially with a weak Pacific. If we add Larkin hopefully Chevy prioritizes speed in UFA and promote some of our youth. Slim chance it happens but we haven't heard we have been entirely ruled out yet either. Likely won't know much until closer to the draft.

Kind of depends on the assets traded to acquire Larkin. Jets have terrible depth. Trading for him will likely create a different hole on the roster.

Pretty interesting take on The Landing Strip about Helle and the Olympic team… does sound like he may have discovered that partying in Miami is just as fun as ice fishing

Larkin to MInnesota makes sense - Yurov and Wallstedt to Detroit

That's a pretty light return.

Detroit does not need an other goalie, do they?

Never say never, i argued with alot of people when we lost the Jets that one day we will get them back. But getting Larkin probably not going to happen.
Larkin is definitely not happening, not in this reality anyways. The guy is clearly frustrated with Detroit's direction and wants to play for a contender, forget Winnipeg the destination because that alone would be enough for him to not want in, but we are an older team who will soon be completely out of contention if we are not already.

It's a pipe dream, never happening, would bet anything on it.

Listening to the episode, along with the segments of Hellebuyck on the Tkachuk bros podcast and Friedman's recent segments on Larkin/US players, FLA makes too much sense for him, and WPGs best chance of getting another top 10 selection.

Yeah I hadnt heard the Helle clips on the Tkachuk brothers show…. it doesn’t sound great

Personally, I’d keep Helle one more season if I was Chevy but ONLY if DD is our backup and learns from Helle…. That being said, TNSE will re-sign Comrie and ‘over-develop’ Divicentis

Try for
FLA 1st and 2nd, Samoskevich or BUF 1st, UPL, Kesselring and Helenius

Can’t see the locker room being in tact this season if Chevy doesnt bring in at least one ‘name’ player…

Not a big fan of his game, but I wonder about Nurse. Would *count* as a big name to help appease a certain goalie, would be a second/third pair guy on the Jets so would have an easier time, brings the physicality and shot blocking they seem to be chasing but is a million times better than Fleury. 120something hits last year.

Definitely not worth his contract but could probably have him for very cheap if not free with the clowns in Edmonton. Just that 9.25 cap hit and salary Chipman would have to swallow for 4? years.

I think Helle kinda made his window with the Jets 1 year unless they go really deep in the playoffs. Cap's probably not going to be a big issue in the near future.

If they attach attach 2 1sts for it.

I just can't see who they can realistically bring in that will move the needle, we all know the best FA's will choose other destinations, hell even the mid level FA's usually aren't even possible for us, it will be the dregs most likely so your Nyquists and Pearsons etc.

As for trades I mean who knows, we will see what Chevy can cook up but I certainly ain't holding my breathe.

Scheifele is better than Larkin and I dont see the KFC - Scheifele duo broken up.
To have Larkin feel good about his new surroundings, why wouldn't you pair him with a Michigan buddy in Connor? May make him consider waiving his no move if he knew he had an elite winger to play with.

During the season, guys will move around depending on match ups, but similar to when Connor played with PLD, it's good to spread the scoring out on two lines and Larkin would help with Connor's d deficiencies. Scheif and Connor would be reunited on pp1 along with Larkin, likely in the bumper.

Also, Mark has 2 productive years left, maybe, while Larkin and Connor would have 5 or so. Why not start the new scoring dual right away?

I actually wouldn't mind Nurse, just that Cap hit sucks. It would depend on 2 things, who we draft (Smits, Carels etc) and what the plan is for Samberg. Nurse as a 2LD would be fine, and bring some much needed physicality.
I would expect a sweetner in return at his full hit.

If we end up rebuilding this summer or next, he might be worth getting bc they would need to give us picks/prospects to take him, plus he fights to protect our prospects. Obviously if we want to win, he wouldn’t be a popular choice haha

jmo - demelo/salo
samberg - pionk
nurse/rielly - demelo/salo

if we take on one of those high salary d-man it would give us far more balance in our d-pairs with plenty of options and easier to survive injuries, provided they waive of course

I think if we could buy low on Rielly somehow, he is a candidate to bounce back. Less minutes and not relied on to be a #1 when he clearly isn't could revitalize him somewhat.
