PP/PK combined Tally 102.9. Thats the first time they were over 100 in 4 years.

Penalty kill ranks 7th @ 84.3%

Power play ranks 12th @ 18.6%

That didn't take long after Wilson was sent the hell out of town now did it.

Discuss away.

Also our young goalies that craig simpson kept bashing in last nights game are awsome stats wise too. Thats the book on that.

I'm so glad for these numbers.

Mclemment has been huge for us on the PK.

Komorov and McCle have been awesome on PK, JVR a nice addition as well. For my money the PP has its moments but is really lacking on the backend, Franson has been really good, but he and Dion as a pair is just awkward.

So happy about this.

This was one of the areas of the game that was holding us back from making the playoffs because we were so poor at them.

I lost count of how many games we lost because we couldn't kill off penalties. I remember one game against Washington where we lost 4-2, and all 4 of Washington's goals were PP goals.

Honestly, even though I'm very happy both PK and PP are doing well, if I had to choose I would MUCH rather have a top 10 PK and a bad PP than the other way around.

Bad PP means missed opportunities, bad PK could lose you games.

This man does wonders.

I'm glad the PP is working at home now. It's great on the road, 21% away from the ACC.

Would love to see Gardiner on that PP as well ;)

Special teams has been very good
Maclement is a beast there

Potentially adding reilly, and gardiner
Our pp could be unstoppable

Our winning % when out shot is 4th also at .647 and thats another feather in our young goalies hats. Only elite teams are better in this category Chicago,Boston and Anaheim. This team will grind it out.

Only 7th and 12th? Not good enough.

:sarcasm:

Honestly though, I have no complaints. I haven't felt that our PK has cost us any games and our PP has helped us get points, example being last night where we got 2 PP goals to help keep us in the game early on.

Sometimes, it seems that a good pk is actually giving us life.

People who say Carlyle is a terrible coach (and he does appear to make mistakes) have a difficult explaining this, as special teams are the most impactable area by a coach.

Great to see that our speciality teams combined are over 100. Been a long time since we've seen that.

Credit goes to all of our PK guys for buying in and doing what they need to keep the puck out of the net but how do give credit without specially mentioning McClement? Guy has been money all season. Pretty incredible that he's the lone forward in the top 10 when it comes to PK minutes and has one of the lowest goals against despite the incredible amount of minutes he logs short handed.

Nice to see our PP picking up as well. Having Gardiner or even Liles back should only make it better. They do quite well on the road, they just need to translate that success on home ice and they'll be set.

There is no such thing as a terrible coach with a cup ring. They have cup rings because they are good coaches

Carlyle and his staff have done well. The players with the addition of JVR and Clem have helped both categories significantly too. Reims/Scrivvy have top quality save percentages/GAA,its agressive special teams most nights and i like watching it feeling they are going to be successful.

Every night someone/something positive usually stands out now on this team. Its a nice start to building a successful young team 4sure.
