Proposal: Special teams--Flower play and ice the puck

Other teams have guys like Doughty, Karlsson, Gonchar, Weber, Suter at the point. We have a weak old Beaver and a Del Zastorous over thinker.

i hope they trade Del Zotto at the draft and let McIlrath make the team out of camp....

Del Zotto has been a Del Zaster lately but I'm not for replacing him with an unproven McIlrath yet. Beacon said McIlrath needs to work on his skating an balance, we want that starting with the team next season? Let him develop

and if McI isn't ready out of camp?

You don't want to start the season with a 3rd pairing of something like Eminger/Hamerlik

sign an UFA..... or trade with a team with depth on defense for another McDonagh Erixson type trade.. a prospect that is close to making the NHL but cant due to depth in their organization....

by the time training camp is done you are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel of UFAs. Yeah, I trade may be possible, but what's it going to cost?

If someone makes an awesome offer for MDZ then yeah, pack his bags, but if we are just moving him to make room for McI we are better off waiting

Here is my proposal.

Fire Tortorella & Sullivan. Get a new coach who understands modern hockey and power play. Win.

Michael Del Zotto is 22 freaking years old. I'm sure many of you realize that, right?

Ok, and your point is? I can make a list of players currently in the NHL the same age or younger than him who don't make as many dumb mistakes.

My point is thinking a 22 year old defenseman is close to a finished product is ridiculous.

Limit that list to defenseman.

Nearly every young defenseman in the NHL is wildly inconsistent. DZ isn't a Doughty, Pietrangelo, or OEL, and that type of play shouldn't be expected from him.

I agree with you he is not finished, but what does that mean? Should we hold on to him and hope that he will become better? Or should we trade him while he might still return something good?

I agree everyone should get a chance, and I tried supporting the guy over the past 2 seasons, but if it were up to me he would be gone. The guy just doesn't get it. Maybe he will get it in a few years, but I would not hold onto him for that reason. There is always the possibility that he will decline as well.

You forgot Erik Karlsson. :D

I don't think incessant long shots are the answer. I think more positive play is. Be less afraid. Less tentative.

Puck possession, creativity and a quicker passing game is the key to the PP. But since we play an entirely different 5 on 5 game it is hard to adjust accordingly when we go one man up. That, my friends, is the simple yet painfully truthful answer. Playing Stone Age hockey means that is not adaptable nor possible to run an efficient PP. but we got JAM

New York Rangers is nominated for the Nobel Peace Price for our pasifistic work for peace on our own powerplay at times this season. We absolutely refuse to shoot.

I can see how fans say they don't shoot enough looking at the long stretches of no shots during periods, but they do shoot. This team just misses the net a lot or hits the post, the last game there were a bunch of shots that went way wide.
