Spec: Is Chris Tanev good enough to be selected into the HHOF?

He's been the exact same player this year that he's been for the past 10+ years lol

Well then he'll need another 10 years of this level of play along with an increase in offense to make it.

Defensive D-man don't make the hall of fame often. You have to be very well regarded and have played as #1D for a long time with a lot of team success to get a chance as this type of player.

Tanev wasnt a strong #1D ever in his career.

He didnt represent canada in Olympics, World Cup of Hockey or even 4 Nations, so no real international stellard play to help him

No standout playoff runs so far and no norris votes.

Love the guy but hes not a HHOF

He was an amazing defensive defenseman with the Canucks. Had one of the best work ethics and no one outside of Vancouver recognized his defensive game until he left.

That said, his career isn't going to get him into the Hall of Fame. Even the best defensive defensemen in the hall right now still put up a significant amount of points.

That's my/everybody's point. He's been a very good defenseman for years (not HOF worthy though). But now that he's a Leaf, you got you asking if he belongs in the HOF. Not before, when he was the same good player, but only after he's a Leaf is he HOF worthy to you.

I have plenty of respect for Chris Tanev. He doesn't even make the infamous "Hall of Very Good." He's had a good career as an injury prone #3 d-man. Its admirable he's maintained his level of play this late into his career considering how many games he's missed due to injury.
