Spaceballs 2

Hearing that it's now coming to theaters and just about every actor is returning gives me more hope, not so much because those things will make it good, but they suggest that the script may be good. Even if the movie is bad, though, at least it'll be nice to see Brooks and Moranis one more time. I don't want to get my hopes up, because Amazon's Coming 2 America was such a disappointment (even with returning actors), but I'm feeling a little more optimistic than I was previously.
Well I mean no Barf or a recast one and no Dot Matrix or a recast one due to the deaths of John Candy and Joan Rivers. I am wondering if Mel Brooks, who is currently 98, will play Yogurt!

Literally didn't see it You have a tendency to post a shit load of links, do you think people read every one?
Absof***inglutely.

All you had to do read was the link, not even click it, because it literally says that Mel Brooks is returning.

Would be great if they stick with the 80s style special effects and sets
Agreed. It won't look right if it's too modern. Hopefully, the aesthetic is similar, like how Andor looks more like the OT than the ST does.

Yeah, I forgot about Candy and remembered only after I posted. :(

hope they absolutely lampoon and obliterate the prequel and sequel trilogies.
but mostly will watch it for Moranis. Much respect for the guy.

I also fully expect them to tear a new one for the so called fandoms and "critics" on Youtube. I am fully prepared for certain people to turn on Mel Brooks for it, because the grift has no moral backbone.

Why would you expect them to mock Star Wars fans and critics when they're on their side? I think that it's more likely they'll take their side even more and stick it to Disney and Kathleen Kennedy like South Park did.

Because Mel Brooks doesn't give a f***, the more people he offends, the better.

Because Mel Brooks thinks critics are idiots and those "fans" more often than not, aren't even very good critics. He'll mock Star Wars but he likely has a much deeper respect for filmmakers than he does people who shit on films.

He made a career out of lampooning films and only hates it when critics don't like his films. I see no reason to believe that a 99-year-old has a beef with YouTubers who have done nothing to him and is going to use his final film to stick it to them.

Mel Brooks hasn't shied away from saying he wants to get cancelled before his death.

Yeah, because he's made a career out of being politically incorrect. Tearing into people who are also against political correctness would go against that.

Getting cancelled by EVERYONE would be very Mel Brooks. Also, in case people missed it, he's not writing the movie.

Mel Brooks's whole career was made of making fun of racists and perpetrators of social injustice, so going after those who are against doing that, would very much fall in line with his work.

The last thing that he wants is for everyone to turn on him. He's sensitive to criticism and once personally insulted Roger Ebert because of a negative review. He loves to offend, but knows that many more people will love him for it.

Also, you're the one who brought him up as if he was writing it.

I said nothing of him writing it. The writers were mentioned it the THR article I linked on the previous page:

This time out, Josh Greenbaum is helming the comedy from a script by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez and Josh Gad, who is also rumored to star.

I'm not sure why you think that fans and critics of Star Wars aren't fans of Mel Brooks, especially in a thread about Spaceballs.
I said nothing of him writing it.
You suggested that he's deliberately going to offend certain people, which'll be hard to do if he's not writing it.

I mean by his involvement alone, he can ad lib Yoghurt's lines if he wants.

Not sure what you're implying here...
