Yeah, not a fan of this season.

The jokes are usually funny when contained within that one episode. When they try to drag the same couple of jokes throughout the entire season it gets boring fast.

Only season of South Park that I've just stopped watching early on

Shame really, they had so much to work with. Of the first 3 episodes that I've watched, I did like the member berries

South Park's better than it's ever been.

Well maybe not quite as good as last year, but you can't create an character as amazing as PC Principal every year.

methinks the past 2 seasons have been too 'on the nose' for some folks' liking.

Most of the eps are great.

It is good. People are just picky.

Is there anything specifically that bothers people? Is it the sequential episodes? What's wrong with that? I didn't like it at first because they took about 10 months off then did their seasons, but other people already explained to me that GoT and other shows pretty much do the same thing.

It's just not that funny. There's so much going on at once as if they're trying to build up to something epic, but there's no release. Even if the season finale were to be amazing, it still wouldn't justify all these episodes with disjointed storylines and no humor.

It is funny though.

Which is fine, but not with a show like South Park. Matt and Trey are not storytellers.. they are pretty horrible at it.. what they are good at is telling jokes but they haven't done much of that this year.

When the jokes aren't there it just sucks.. and the jokes have been missing for a bit here.

The past two seasons had the same format and were still good because they were spaced out with (mostly) stand alone episodes as well and sometimes only passing references to previous events... that is not the case here.

I think they're fantastic storytellers. They didn't make a great feature-length movie like Team America and a great musical like Book Of Mormon by being simple joke tellers.

Possibly, or it could just seem very, very dated.

This is how I see it.

In a few years, will much of this stuff be relevant if you watch it on re-run? Older, standalone episodes are the ones where I can watch at any time and laugh while they're also playing off some real life aspects at the time.

Just last night I watched the re-run where the boys built the ladder to heaven to see Kenny because of a ticket to the candy shop and it turned into Japan trying to out-do them and beat them there, and then staging their whole thing. Thoroughly enjoyed re-watching that one. That and the ****** (city) wall for the Mongolians and kidnappers. There were references to real life happenings at the time but it didn't dominate the entire episode or season and makes it so much easier to watch, even all these years after it originally aired.

This is a season that is going to get trashed now but will age like fine wine.

Thats why Im not piling onto this. Because I hated last season so much, and it's amazing on rewatch.

I still think this season has been horrible. But I'm gonna wait and rewatch it in a few months.

Team America had a story?

The show works because it is funny as **** but when you go into plots they are pretty garbage at least when they try to tell a long running narrative like the last 3 seasons.

Part of that is due to the on the fly making of an episode see the post election episode this year which makes no sense now.

I remember watching team america when it first came out and once you got over the "lol their puppets" thing didn't really imagine seeing it hold up.

Then all the Micheal Moore, George Bush and Kim Jon stuff sooo very dated.

I 'member Team America. I 'member some misguided couple bringing their young kids to watch Team America. I couldn't help but laugh when they left out of disgust about 10 minutes into the movie. Just fun imagining how that conversation went prior to picking which movie to take the kids to watch.

You nailed it imo. I'd actually say this season and last season are two of the weakest if not the two weakest in recent memory. Like you said, in 10 years if you flip a random rerun of SP on and it's the mongolians episode, it stands on its own and you'll probably enjoy it in the same way one could enjoy a random episode of Star Trek TOS or TNG randomly, as each episode is it's own story and stands on its own.

If you flip it on only to see one of the weaker episodes in this season or previous, it'll just be one small part of an on-going storyline you likely won't even fully remember. I'm not denying each episode has had its moments but I much prefer the standalone eps where each one had its own story.

I know I'll get crucified here for saying this, but I was never really even a big fan of the multi part episodes they did in the past, and I know I'm in the minority much like I am with these two seasons.

I'm also not nearly as big a fan of PC principal as many people are either. I feel like if he were treated like other characters that are the focal point of an episode now and then rather than for a full season, I'd like his schtick a lot more. But when I'm subjected to him for 12 straight episodes it loses its magic with me.
