What's the intent of the creators of the movie, though? It seems to me that it's to raise awareness about sex trafficking. You're speculating that it goes beyond that. Maybe it does for some, but maybe it doesn't for others. Maybe the movie leaves out the conspiracies because many of the people involved in the movie don't agree with them. Either way, does it matter? Should we reject a movie that brings much-needed awareness to a terrible problem that hurts many, including kids, just because we're worried that it might bring a little awareness to a fringe political group peddling kooky ideas?
I don't know about it approaching the drug trade, but I can believe that it's the fastest growing criminal network. According to Wikipedia, its estimated global profits were $9B in 2005 and $99B in 2016. Also, FWIW, and this is just anecdotal, but I recently read a policeman in a small town in Canada say that more of his department's workload these days is related to human trafficking than drugs and violent crime combined. Who knows if that's true or common, but it does sound like a problem that's exploded in recent decades.
