You take the good with the bad with Bouchard. Hopefully he rifles a couple home tonight.

Evan "Norris" Bouchard has been on fire this month
I watched Bouchard play in the OHL a few times and was always so let down with his lethargic play. Not much has changed.
He was bad again, tonight. And EB is being considered for the Canada team. Hard to see why when he plays defensively so poorly.
Funny enough watching the Panthers implode in games 4-6, my first thought was how good weegar would have been then.Guy clearly has some offensive gifts, and can play decent defense.
But man, is he ever present and responsible for some backbreakers at times. Like last year in the cup finals he gift wrapped us at least 2.
Like how Weegar was for us at times.
It wasn’t a rough game, the effort level there was literally less than zeroNot sure we needed a thread to announce that Bouchard had a rough game. This just in: It happens to all players, including hall of famers.
By the aggregate of stats, Bouchard is a top-20 defenceman in the League this year, and I don't think he's been nearly as good as last year. His upside is huge.
As with all high-risk, high-reward players, there are going to be nights when he looks bad. It's just the nature of it.
Okay. You seem upset. It wasn’t a rough game, the effort level there was literally less than zero
Only Oilers fans would try to defend this garbage with stats. Cool, I don’t care what his whatever advanced stats are. Watch these f***ing plays. That’s embarrassing for a supposed top pair D
i wouldn't even call it awful defense. he checks out before toronto is close to gaining the puck. That 2nd goal against is legitimately hilarious, just awful defense from Bouchard.
Doesn't help the narrative that he's just a PP specialist feeding off of McDavid.
What? The second goal against? You mean the second goal scored by the Leafs?i wouldn't even call it awful defense. he checks out before toronto is close to gaining the puck.
than we talk about different game sequences. What? The second goal against? You mean the second goal scored by the Leafs?
If so, I don't get what you mean by "he checks out before toronto is close to gaining the puck." Bouchard is in good position for the play to the front. Gains possession. Makes a debatable decision on his transition pass (see my other post for my take) then it's a bang bang play and it's in the net. I don't see how he could have "checked out" less than a second after having possession.
There are so many more egregious plays by Bouchard to use as examples of his defensive shortcomings. Watch some Oiler games when they play other teams. Learn a bit more about hockey, and then post about how he sucks.
C'mon, man. You can do better than this.
Okay, I thought you were talking about the second goal against.than we talk about different game sequences.
i am talking about the play where the puck goes by him at the offensive blue line and he casually turns the other way, while ekholm and mcmann race the other way for puck possession and toronto scores. buchard shows zero intent to engage in the play. i wouldn't qualify this as a bad defense. it's simply horrendous effort. if you qualify effort as an important ingredient to defensive ability than you are 100% correct.
