The super early returns for the reformed PPs were not promising. If you have 3 RHS skaters capable of playing on the PP (Hamilton, Necas and Faulk), putting 0 on the left side of the ice is bad design. The puck movement looked clunky for the most part because of that.
I thought there were some promising moments, but Necas on the right was perplexing and handcuffing. Of course, I have no idea how much they've worked on it at this point.

So, for those in attendance....how was the ticketing?

They were scanning QR codes so pretty much the same flow as any other game. The preseason-sized crowd helped. I didn’t see any NFC technology going on, but wasn’t really looking for it.

There was a single scalper standing out front hawking paper tickets. It suddenly hit me that after this year, we’ll never see that again.

I thought they looked like a talented team that isn't quite on the same page when it comes to knowing linemates.

What I saw has me thinking that this team has serious potential once they click. The PP, while it had its hiccups looks a lot better with Gardiner and Hamilton running point. And they have speed for days. Eventually teams are going to have to cheat defensively to prevent us from fast breaking them to death.

With that said, Faulk had himself a night to forget. Numerous mental errors and giveaways throughout the game. Not a great outing from him at all

Nice thing about preseason is you can sit center ice upper bowl and just watch certain players. Gauthier was probably the best player on the ice for the Canes and Necas was probably the worst. I cant see Goat not making the team considering he's the kind of young guy who can play on a 4th line if needed.

A bottom 6 consisting of Haula, Goat, McGinn, Wallmark, Marty, and Foegle is pretty impressive.

Necas looks like he still thinks his high end talent is enough to crack it in the NHL.

Goat looked like he's moved far past a similar frame of mind.

Faulk had the kind of game that makes you think the trade shennanigans got to him.

Aho looked great. Svech looked great.

Forsling seems small and not particularly fast. Claesson was much better than i expected.

Julien Gauthier: Right Wing
6' 4", 227 lbs., 22 yrs old (October), Round 1-21st Pick-2016, Shoots Right.

Hewas the only player to dress in each of the Hurricanes' first two preseason games, and he put forth a monster effort on Wednesday. He tallied a primary assist, a shot on goal, two hits and a blocked shot in 13:25 of ice time, which included over two minutes on the PP.
Warren Foegele earned his spot with the big club with a stellar training camp last season. Can Gauthier be that guy this year?
"There is no day off, no shift off. I'm here to make the team," he said. "There is no playing around just for fun. I really want to make the team."
"His confidence is there," Brind'Amour said. "The strength is there. He's a bull out there, and he's got good hands around the net. He's not afraid to take it to the net. He's that power forward. If we can work on some other things to help him get to this level, that's obviously the goal."

Julien Gauthier: Scouting Report
Julien Gauthier Stats, Profile, Bio, Analysis and More | Carolina Hurricanes | The Sports Forecaster

Has tremendous size and strength, plus excellent skating speed, which enables him to score plenty of goals. Is able to utilize his size effectively in the offensive zone. Has good instincts. Needs to become a better player in the defensive zone in order to maximize output at the highest level. Also, he is somewhat inconsistent in terms of using his big body effectively.
