Watching the highlight packages pre-draft, I did notice that Svechnikov showed the ability to score coming off of the left half-wall. Necas at the right half-wall is awkward; his turnover was a function of having to go across the body as he attempted to get it back to center point.

I'm liking Gardiner a lot already. He'll make some bad mistakes from time to time, I'm sure, however, I think the majority of his game makes up for it. The mobility, the stretch passing, the playmaking, it's all there.

an observation about system changes is that it seems like we're having our defense gap up wayyyyy tighter through the neutral zone and having our forwards cover for it. that's why the organizational focus has been on getting faster up front. teuvo had a strong backcheck on a 2 on 2. they're going to be asking a lot of the forwards covering up if they stay this aggressive.
