Some sports writers really don't have a clue.

Even worse. They're are that lazy that they let an AI do the work?
Why not? It is clickbait anyway. The "author" isn't winning a Pulitzer anytime soon and is paid based on clicks, not depth of analysis. All you really need is a purported journalism outlet to accept you that is itself greedy for clicks and you're suddenly in business for yourself churning out crap for profits, and AI can generate crap a whole lot faster than one can type. Plus, AI is super good (maybe even generational) at determining the titles that will generate the most clicks. No actual knowledge of the subject matter required, and indeed that might cause you to waste time in the crap generation process.

The issues with professional sports writers could merit a thread of its own.

The story with this article is AI still being pretty shitty.

It's not helpful to try and lump that in with professional sports writers.
