One glance at Flyers reddit and I'm entirely convinced I watch a completely different sport.

My one hard and fast rule is to never discuss a sport with someone who only follows their team. Not because it's inherently worse. It's that there will never be common ground. I just smile politely and change topics.

The footnote to this is that if they don't ever bring any other topics except when they come up in context of that team, I don't believe them when they say they do.
