I’m of the baseball like mindset that if you’re going to invest a lot in a player you only do so for legit star players. Everybody else comes with a lot more fiscal responsibility when thinking of committing to.

He’s merely just fine & on the decline. I would have no interest really especially at the likely contract it would require.

It really is amazing how much stock people put into a title bestowed by management.

Without judging Giroux's leadership abilities, you can't just hand someone a title and expect them to be someone who whips other people into shape. They have to have the personality for it. Some people lead vocally, others lead by example. If they're the latter, you need complimentary individuals to point to the example and drive others to emulate it. But handing a person a letter and telling them to go take charge of a group and make it great isn't how it works. And that's also accepting the argument that there was a problem in the locker room, which I don't buy. Until maybe when they brought in Hayes and decided that he was the face of the franchise.

You just have to wait until next summer when those few names people are bandying around right now are UFA’s. Ignore that these guys are likely to come off the board this summer when they’re actually eligible to sign extension.

Let's see first how his numbers look away from a smurf like Forsling. With Seeler and Risto already in place flyers could have one of the bigger defenses in the league. Just as good as Vegas.
