To be honest, that's what it really comes down to. Canada is so stacked that including a Kuntiz, while not the best choice, probably ultimately doesn't make a huge difference (and didn't, as they won gold). This isn't a leaving Semin off Russia thing where the dropoff in talent is huge. Thornton or a Staal would probably be the better choice, but if you're debating the difference between an A+ and a B+ in a team full of A+'s, you're probably going to be okay.
Yeah, that make sense and why I never thought it was such a bad choice. I didn't see any A+'s left out there, so we were really looking at B+ vs. A- IMO. Hindsight is always 20-20, but in the end, if I was going to add someone else to this team as a forward, it would have been in place of St. Louis (who I incorrectly thought would excel over there), Sharp, Duchene or Nash before I'd take Kunitz off.
IMO, Bylsma is the most blameworthy here.
Blysma is as much to blame as anyone, but so are the players as he doesn't control things on the ice (like Kane missing two penalty shots, although I guess he could have chosen someone else to shoot, not sure who was on the ice).
I don't blame the US for losing to Canada. Canada was the best team and it was almost impossible to score on them. They play that game 10 times and I bet Canada wins at least 7. Plenty of blame to go around for the Finnish game though, that's for sure.
