This is exactly what i figured would happen - i mean why wouldn't it? This is the Rangers.

Talented enough to hang around the playoff line. Maybe sneak in at the end. But this team is SO flawed in so many ways, it would be so much better for the long game if they just sunk in the standings.

Dolan and Drury will be blinded by the chance to get some playoff gate, make some deals like this team actually has a chance.

We are talking about the same trophy at the top of the mountain right? Not some McDonald's Kids Meal toy version? Just checking.

How would it be better if they sunk in the standings when they have already (conditionally) traded both their first and second round picks?

there has to be room here to contextualize these discussions with an acknowledgement that certain posters grind a single axe, day in, day out. that's part of the discussion.
That's not part of the discussion. We all have to stop with the agenda stuff.

Pro-Zibanead, anti-Zibanejad. Pro-Fox, anti-Fox. We all root for the Rangers.

By all means, make your point about the player and that's that. If you really feel that the other person is not going to listen because they just love/hate that player and that's it, then move on.

Because then maybe they could make some deals to get them back.

And if they do sink they could make that pick this year (potentially moving up) instead of next.

Their own picks are gone regardless and I don't think winning/losing over the next week will affect what they decide to do with Lindgren/Smith/Vesey.

And it's probably better to lose the pick this year than give up the unprotected first next year in case things go really wrong next year with injuries and the like.

If they fall below the 12 line they could pick anywhere from 11-1, in this years draft - so no its not gone regardless.

Well see what they do.

I woke up today fearing a Ryan Lindgren extension. Crisis avoided so far.

Me: "You just hate Zuccarello."

@GoAwayPanarin: "Yeah."

Me: "Ok."

That's a real exchange. Like, what do you say at that point?
you don't say anything at that point. you marshal a campaign of oblique commentary on the intellectual weakness inherent in that poster's rote elevation of a personal player fandom above the shared rooting interest for the Rangers, and deploy it strategically to scathing and humorous effect - thus finding favor with the boards cognoscenti.

The issue here is not the name calling or the personal stuff. I can take it. Doesnt bother me. What irks me is that they never come with any arguments of their own besides the name calling.

Me: Mika scored a goal tonight and was bla bla xGF. I hope he can continue this trajectory.

Anti-Mika brigade: Stop shilling Webster!

or

Anti-Mika brigade: Mika is softer than melted ice cream and the worst thing ever happened to this team.

Me: He literally created a goal by forechecking hard, threw a hit and assisted Miller.

Anti-Mika brigade: SQUIRREL!

like i said, i've generally liked his game since jan 1 or so. still think he should be playing 2C

Both Rempe's goals this year were good hands skilled plays. Brodzinski's first goal probably doesn't happen without Matthew's screen. He's a work in progress but he's also making progress and getting better and there are definitely positive things he can bring to a team even than just physical play. He and Carrick and Edstrom were playing pretty well together before Edstrom got hurt. He and Brodzinski and Othmann were our best line tonight and not even that close. 3 of the 5 goals in very limited minutes.
Exactly, and what I wouldn't give for Lavy to totally flip flop the 4 lines.
4th line becoming 1st and trying to stay with other top lines. Wouldn't that be something?
When you're 4th line (typically called a shut down line) IS that good, so what would be so crazy as to at least try and do that for at least 1 game? Not going to ever happen I know, especially this time of season......but my point is, our top 6 are kind of sucking, except for JT and Cuylle. So maybe slip them in the "bottom 6" and then do the flip flop. The original top 6, would have better matchups and should excel.

So, there you have it. Now, I am pretty sure everyone here will block me because I'm off my rocker. Or maybe not so much?

He made a good play there. Replacing Panarin with Cuylle on the line should give it more forechecking power along the boards. But on that play, yes, it was Zibanejad who went in and made the initial physical play to capture possession.

So why this stick up your ass? Why are you posting hit & runs against me questioning my fandom? I have been on these boards long before Zibanejad joined the team and a fan even longer before that.

I am not giving you grief or questioning you lojalty when you stand up for K Miller or even when for a better of a month you were crying over Kakko. So what gives? Are likes on your posts from the handfull of posters who dont like me worth it? Are they the "cognoscenti" you want to be a part of?

And yes, I agree with you. Mika should be the 2C. Brings more balance to the lines.

I am merely expounding that we forego ad hominen trucelence in deference to deliberation of an ad rem persuasion.

Geez.

The worst part of this season is that we’re normalizing game score charts for some reason. Astrology for hockey fans.
I dont know about that but I do believe it is a easy way to measure consistency without going too deep into advance analytics.

It's good for a glance and I don't think it's necessarily gospel just because you see one posted.

I do think it's concerning that Trocheck is towards the bottom over multiple games. If it's one game where a guy is near the bottom but he looked good, that's different.
