Davidson has plenty of choice

He is under no obligation to trade Kane
For sure, he can keep him and lose him for nothing.

But he won't do that. We're talking about a guy that traded 21 y old Dach for #13 OA.

He wants to rebuild, he wants picks. His team is in the bottom 3. He'll take what the NYR wants to give him like the Flames did when Iginla only wanted to go to Pittsburgh.

Stars that have full NMC have all the power.

Giroux type of trade ladies and fellas.

The rangers are not paying something outlandish. The hawks help a franchise player to a new place regardless of what it means for both in the future as in a reunion or not. Hawks get a ok-solid return back.

Boom done.

Of course Davidson wants picks. If he gets the picks, I don't see Davidson having any issues trading him.

Part of the issue here is *some* Ranger fans thinking they can give a garbage proposal and the Hawks have no choice but to accept it. If the offer is reasonable and in good faith, then the Hawks will take it.

He may 100% be going to the Rangers. But...

1) An NMC doesn't mean you must trade them. They could keep him. It may depend on if the package is decent or not.
2) Kane said he cares about making this work for the Blackhawks as well as for himself. If the packages offered is headlined by a failed prospect, Kane very well might refuse it himself.
Chicago owes Kane to trade him where he wants.

Kane owes nothing to Chicago. Anyways I'm willing to bet that he's not staying in Chicago if he asked them to trade him to the NYR. Could you imagine Davidson getting in front of the media saying Kane wanted to go to NYR but ultimately they decided to keep him against his will because the NYR did not give enough? And then you get a pissed off Kane for his last season in Chicago???

That would be shitshow. He'd lose his job on the spot.

I don't think we're disagreeing here. If they get a 1st plus a prospect or two, as Iginla got for the Flames - then the deal happens. Probably not til Friday for cap reasons, though.

If Kane was open to going anywhere, the price would be skyrocketed. But he wants to go to New York and play with his buddy, so the price is lower. But that doesnt mean it will lower to the point of being headlined by a low 2nd round pick or a prospect who 5 years later isnt panning out. At least I hope not :)

Fine? The entire point with acquiring these players is that on a contending team they don't have to be THE guy... Only one of many talented players.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings and you needed to lash out. It's cool.

I really don't think new York needs Kane and if they don't win the cup while sending out firsts for both Tarasenko and Kane.. that's gonna be non ideal...

My feeling aren't hurt , thanks for the thought but a realistic and fair return would be Cuyle , 1st rder , 3rd rder and your cash dumps. If Kane is on a 3rd line he can generate offence by himself , freeing up others.

Fair for who? Chicago? Who literally can't trade him to anywhere else?

The Rangers arent going to negotiate against themselves.

Chicago gave Kane a NMC. It's either take what the Rangers offer, or don't trade him. It's clear (based on the Tarasenko acquisition) that Drury is fine with either situation.

There is no reason to up the offer.

There are a lot of Ranger fans that will be pleasantly surprised by the player they're getting.

Right now you're seeing Kane with his give-a-shit meter set to "trade me", wait until it hits "playoffs" and he actually has good players on his line.

Cool. Conditionally first round pick based on the Rangers making at least the SC finals and Kane being a point per game in the playoffs.

No? Then you don't believe it either.

The bold is very fathomable. Not making bad trades is a good thing.

Situation similar to when Taylor Hall (& Lazar) was moved to Boston for Bjork + 2nd.

Either that or lose him for nothing in free agency. Rangers & Kane hold all the cards here.

Committed Kane as we have seen recently is a force. And when the pressure ramps up
In the playoffs he does not wilt.

I'd be more worried with the SCF clause than him being ppg.

He might be mad enough to take the Blackhawks out of Bedard contention which is the real danger.

I can imagine a motivated Kane saying "ok if you want to keep me then let's win"

The bold is very fathomable. Not making bad trades is a good thing.
I would find it honestly hilarious if Chicago kept Kane, won 5 more games then they should have, and end up picking 4th Overall instead of getting Bedard.

What an honorable hill to die on. I am all for Bedard going to Columbus or Anaheim instead.

If the Rangers play games and lowball as LeBrun is hoping (he has no sources he’s just guessing) tell them to pound sand, ask Kane if he wants to go somewhere else or would prefer to remain in Chicago, if no then ask if he wants to re-sign on a new deal. Regardless of that, offer sheet Lafreniere into the moon and promise him first line ice time and power play team that the Rangers won’t give him.
Yep. Getting vindictive because a team A didn't want a player due to cost and health concerns (confirmed) and now said player is forcing Team B's hand to trade him to team A for potentially very little... makes so much sense!

This seems like a mature approach, smart and reasonable for sure.

Even worse from all indications nothing of value is on table for Kane

Hawks need to walk away and not be Rangers dumping ground
If the Hawks could get a 2nd, Kravtsov and Jones, I would consider that a decent haul. Probably won't make Hawks fans happy, but those are two good prospects.
