It kind of amazes me this franchise could lose 15 out of 20 games to miss out on the playoffs last year and Larkin gets zero criticism as team captain. None. Hey, he looked great at some glorified scrimmage!! Literally DGAF, I want him to stop whining and lead the Red Wings or GTFO.

You have a very slanted view of this thread. The majority of the posts are calling for more accountability from both the players (including Larkin) and management.

Larkin is not, nor will he ever be the player that previous 'C' have been...He's not an Yzerman, Lidstrom, Zetterberg level nor has he had anywhere near the talent to play with.

He's a damn good player with 'some' damn good teammates, but certainly no HoF guys in their prime.

I understand fans holding Larkin accountable for his play which tailed off considerably after the tournament, but I question his physical health and emotional well being from that point forth.

While I scratch my head with the moves Yzerman made regarding the roster - my top beef with Steve was why did he keep Lalonde after last season?

This past season was a write off from the start with Uncle Fester behind the bench...How Yzerman gets a pass from that??!!

I think this comments by Larkin were largely fair. Yzerman didn’t have a good year at all and he should feel more pressure. After 6 years in the job it makes no sense to complain what he inherited - the issues with this roster are his signings.

Nobody here is giving Larkin a free pass, but at the same time if you're holding him solely accountable based off his comments is silly.

If Yzerman wants to sink this ship the 1st order of business would be to move Larkin who yet is our best player and it's not even debatable...As far as I know there's no center out there that's available (and willing to come to Detroit) via trade, or UFA that could come in and do better.

I don't have much interest in continuing what has become a fruitless discussion. Larkin made some truly cringeworthy comments, showed zero self awareness and took no responsibility. My hope is Yzerman deals with it before the start of next season, we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
