Bee hive has definitely been poked by Larks, surprising comments. Sounds like him and some of the guys are growing impatient with Yzerman.

So he is making excuses? How about you step your f***ing game up in March? I would trade him and get younger. He chokes every year down the stretch.

Mtls GM built a playoff roster in under 3 years from total teardown rebuild..

If DL is getting shi..on ok fine, but why not the guy who intentionally and deliberately built the current roster and bench staff?

Ok? That's not typical. You would really rather have Montreal's roster and prospect pool over Detroit's? I wouldn't. I'm very disappointed in Larkin's comments. You disappear annually when we need you the most and then complain you didn't get enough help? Total bitch move.

I'd also rather Larkins career and ability over Suzuki's using that logic..

If we're only measuring results then both men must be judged equally on same metrics..playoffs or not and that's all

I appreciate Larkin speaking his mind, but the team was collapsing prior to the deadline. I’m no Yzerman apologist but why would have been a buyer in that market for a team that wasn’t producing?
I believe no one has been more critical of Yzerman's FA signings on here than me. But Larkin is 1000% out of line. Beta male energy. Publicly making excuses when he didn't BRING IT HIMSELF! He always folds when the pressure is on! What was Yzerman supposed to do? Trade Ras and Copp of Kucherov? Like stfu and LEAD! I'm close to done with this guy.

We have been talking about it, but another thing now that media is picking up, even spittin chiclets. Now we gotta deal with this drama the entire offseason. Thanks cap.

Thats honestly my only annoyance. Other than that I think he has the right to say this. Which is funny because go back to the trade deadline and this forum was about to explode with the same sentiment.

He said he might not be here when players from this year's draft develop and make the team? You don't see yourself as a lifelong red wings Mr. DYLAN LARKIN?
This guy has SIX YEARS left on his deal. Draft picks from this year won't be on the team in 6 years? Or is he suggesting we should have traded 4th rounders for impact players now? Weird weird weird...

I see it’s getting picked up a few different places and discussed now. Watched it this morning, and it’s definitely not nothing.

It’s interesting he felt he could be so transparent. He must be genuinely frustrated.

I can understand after getting so close last year and then you have not only a very underwhelming offseason, but basically add nothing at the deadline, how that could be frustrating.

I think he has a right to be frustrated.

I also think Yzerman has a right to try to have a more impactful off-season this go around. And Larkin could take a little more accountability on how the home stretch played out.

In the long run, I don’t think this will really be much of an issue.

Yzerman has built one of the best prospect pools in the entire NHL. Yzerman spent $116 million during free agency in 2022 and 2023 to give precious Dylan a shot at playoff hockey. Team was in 6th place, 4 points behind Toronto and Carolina on Feb 28, 2024.

Dylan bottles a playoff spot in 2024 by captaining a team that lost 15 of 20 games from Feb 29-Apr 11, 2024. Yzerman replaces coach and hires a coach who has coached over 1,000 games and taken three other franchises to the playoffs.

Dylan cries and whines that all of this is not enough and people on here lap up his cringe comments like it's some sort of impressive leadership. I mean Larkin is whining about 4th round draft picks. He's an embarrassment.

It really feels like Copp is the guy in the locker room. When he went down, the skid started. His postseason presser also seemed far more professional than Larkin.

I don't know. Rubs me the wrong way.
I think you are 100% correct. Why put a guy in front of the media who has been out of the lineup for so long? Copp's comments were exactly what you want to hear when it comes to a young team trying to turn the corner, not whiny Dylan crying about how Yzerman hasn't done enough for him.

I am a big Larkin supporter but did not like that comment. I think he has gone through a lot on and off the ice and is frustrated and voiced his frustration but it seemed aimed in the wrong direction. As the captain you need to absorb the negativity and sometimes take the blame for a lot that is out of your control when it is a team game. That being said, you can control your attitude and I would prefer a more "us vs everybody" type take. Take another frustrating season and say "Hey its on us in that locker room, we are good enough and we didn't perform". If you have a problem with the roster, go talk to Steve behind closed doors because I can't see him responding by shaking things up by players speaking to the media about it.

I was already very over this and now it is getting more life.

Just makes things more depressing that we missed the playoffs again.

Larkin and Yzerman can get pissy all they want, in the end, those two along with the HC are most responsible for where the team is right now. Figure it out you two, you have all offseason, get right.

This is 100% on Larkin. Don't bring Yzerman into this, he's made significant moves and has kept his mouth shut. When other players have acted the way Larkin has, they have been moved.

Maybe yzerman should have been proactive and tried to do something around the 4 nations break when the team worked their asses off to get back to a playoff spot after the GM watched a horrible coach run the ship into the ground for 3 months
