Post-Game Talk: SNES @ Wings, Thursday night 7pm

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I thought we deserved the penalties we got, for the most part; however, the erst seemed to lose their whistles when Detroit committed some sins.
Most of the calls were justifiable taken in a vacuum, even if a few absolutely should have been paired with an embellishment call, but you don't call a penalty in a vacuum, you need to apply the same standard to both teams, that wasn't done last night imo.

I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it, but either Brady or Sandy yelling “kill it” when the puck was in corner with about 15-20 seconds left and killing the play was such a good play, that’ll be overlooked. Those 2 killed 10 or 12 seconds and took a beating doing it. Brady then was jacked up at end of game and went to sandy first with a big high five and chest bump.
Good catch. Those two were beasts killing that last few seconds off the clock.

I liked that hit! Thanks for reminding me. But I want to see a big physical hit a la Neil. :). That Greig hit was more of a knocking Debrincat off balance and down.

I really like Greig's game; smart player with some deception in his play, nice passing, and some nastiness. Nice package.

We are the second worst team in the league at G/60 against an EN. The top team, Tampa, scores at 3 times the rate we do...
I think it's because of how we defend. We converge on the prime scoring areas and don't get as many cracks at it. But we are also pretty terrible at that, so..

Is Giroux maybe battling an injury. Above what everyone is probably dealing with.

He looks a few steps slow than he did a month ago

UPDATE

Our magic number (in points) for the chasing teams are as follows:

NYI - 15 points
NYR - 14 points
CBJ - 16 points
MTL - 16 points - ADDED

For those not familiar with the "magic number" concept it means that we need a total of 15 points to be either gained by us or lost by the Islanders to mathematically clinch a spot over them. The number is 14 for the Rangers. 16 for the Jackets and Habs.

The Isles play both of the other teams down the stretch and the Rangers only play the Isles. We get three against the Jackets the rest of the way. Those will obviously be big games.

GSG!!

This part isn't directed at you, but the parity in the league means there are no easy games, there are some particularly tough ones, but no team is an automatic win. We held on, there was more good than bad in an important game, that's something to be celebrated. Meanwhile Toronto lost 6-5 to SJ, WSH lost 4-2 to the wild, MTL fighting for their lives lost 6-4 to Phi, EDM lost 6-1 to the Kraken, good teams losing to teams well below them, but we got some people complaining that we'll get swept because we weren't perfect closing out a game against Det.
Just had to respond to explain why I was trippin. I'm at work and my stream isn't working, so I felt comfortable missing the 3rd period knowing we were up 3-0. Seeing us win 4-3 and my colleagues troll me was enough to activate latent high BP genes lol.

I trolled them right back though. Went to an afterwork dinner and saw their hopes go up as the Leafs caught up against the SHarks and then lost in a SO.

It is a bit frustrating, but I tell myself that last year, with Korpisalo in tow, they'd have lost a game like that 6-4 by the end, so it is still progress and showing they can squeeze it out has value. Playing in close games and bending but not completely breaking is a big part of playoff hockey.

Ullmark was solid last night, and when I found out my leafer colleagues bet on him having a shutout, it kinda made the night a bit special lol
